Canada Jetlines to start new route from Toronto Pearson to Vancouver International Airport


The fledgling budget airline in Canada, Jetlines, has confirmed a new route out of its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) will be a direct service to Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Starting in December 2022, Canada Jetlines will commence Airbus A320 service from Toronto to Vancouver. 

The new route aims at providing more accessible travel within Canada, connecting the lower mainland and southern Ontario, operating twice weekly. Vancouver International Airport serves Vancouver and its surrounding cities and is the second busiest airport in Canada in terms of passenger traffic behind Toronto Pearson Airport.

“Following the launch of a successful first route out of Toronto, we look forward to expanding our services into Vancouver ahead of the upcoming holiday travel season,” shared Duncan Bureau, Chief Commercial Officer of Canada Jetlines. “We seek to provide Canadian travellers with more convenient travel options and look forward to bringing the country’s newest leisure airline to YVR.”

This new service will complement the airline's operations of biweekly flights, operating Thursdays and Sundays out of Toronto (YYZ) to Calgary (YYC) from 07:55am EST – 10:10am MST and returns from Calgary (YYC) to Toronto (YYZ) 11:40am MST – 17:20 EST.

Shawn Klerer appointed to the board of Canada Jetlines....

Canada Jetlines, the new budget airline in Canada has appointed Shawn Klerer to its Board of Directors to help the fledgling carrier expand.  Klerer has over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, finance, marketing, operations management, sales management, and leadership development, having held executive-level positions at several companies.

“Shawn is another great addition to strengthen the Canada Jetlines Board of Directors,” stated Eddy Doyle, President & CEO. “With his experience and success as a senior executive in global corporations, we look forward to his leadership and contributions to Canada Jetlines.”

In connection with Klerer’s appointment, Mr Jean Charest is moving to the firm's Advisory Board. Ken McKenzie has resigned from the carrier's board, for 'family reasons'.

Hope Air and Canada Jetlines partner to provide access to vital medical care for low-income patients

Canadian leisure airline, Canada Jetlines has partnered with Canada’s only national charity providing flights, accommodations, meals, and ground transportation to those in financial need who require travel for medical care far from home. 

Canada Jetlines will support Hope Air operations with free flights for Hope Air’s patients, staff, and volunteers.

“As Hope Air continues to scale our mission to support Canadians with access to care, we recognize the limitations for those travelling out of rural communities. Canada Jetlines commenced operations out of its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with its first scheduled route into Calgary International Airport (YYC) on September 22, 2022. The carrier has started with biweekly flights, operating Thursdays and Sundays out of Toronto (YYZ) to Calgary (YYC) from 07:55am -- EST 10:10am MST and returns from Calgary (YYC) to Toronto (YYZ) 11:40am MST – 17:20 EST. Frequency will increase to three flights per week, Thursdays through Sundays, in time for the holidays.

Canada Jetlines looking for more money to acquire aircraft following successful launch

Fresh from yesterday's inaugural flight the latest budget airline to take to the skies of Canada is seeking more funds....

Canada Jetlines Operations has increased the size of its non-brokered private placement to raise from $1,500,000 to up to $2,000,000. The Offering consists of units issued at $0.255 per unit (each a “Unit”). Each Unit consists of one common or variable voting share (each a “Share”) and one half of one warrant (each whole warrant a “Warrant”). Each Warrant entitles the holder thereof to purchase an additional Share (each a “Warrant Share”) for a period of 24 months after closing at a price of $0.40 per Warrant Share.

In order to encourage share ownership by employees of the Company, the Company will be offering all of its employees that chance to participate in the Offering with a bonus incentive. Employees that participate in the Offering with receive one additional Unit (without payment of additional consideration) for every six Units subscribed for in the Offering.

The Company intends to use the net proceeds of the Offering and the Loan for aircraft acquisition, general corporate and working capital purposes. The closing of the Offering and the Loan is subject to customary closing conditions, including the execution of definitive documentation and receipt of the approval of the Neo Exchange Inc.

Canada Jetlines appoints Brigitte Goersch to its Board of Directors.

The newly formed Canadian budget airline, Canada Jetlines has appointed Brigitte Goersch to its Board of Directors. Ms Goersch is a nominee of Roosheila Group Inc. and will be an independent Board member.

Goersch has previously been Deputy Executive Director of The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (MCO); Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Oversight Executive; and United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and Command Pilot and brings a wealth of aviation industry knowledge with her. 

“I am delighted that Brigitte has agreed to join the Board of Canada Jetlines,” stated Eddy Doyle, President & CEO. “As Jetlines looks to expand into United States operations, her experience with major US airports and the FAA will be a significant benefit.”



Goersch is the President of Lionheart Enterprises and acts as an aviation industry advisor to a multi-billion EUR global investment organization. During a 14-year period,  Goersch was the Deputy Executive Director, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, leading the operations of Orlando International Airport – a top 10 US airport. During her tenure, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority received hundreds of awards including #1 Airport in North America–J.D. Powers and Associates, #1 in North America in Overall Passenger Satisfaction–USA Today, Best Family Friendly Domestic Airport-American Society of Travel Agents. Goersch has been a Board member of the Florida Board of Medicine, Florida Board of Pharmacy and National Safe Skies Alliance.

Canada Jetlines urgently seeks more funds.

Canada Jetlines Operations the new, all-Canadian, leisure airline, has announced that it intends to undertake a non-brokered private placement to raise from $1,200,000 to $1,500,000.  

The Offering consists of units issued at $0.255 per unit. Each Unit consists of one common or variable voting share (each a “Share”) and one half of one warrant (each whole warrant a “Warrant”). Each Warrant entitles the holder thereof to purchase an additional Share (each a “Warrant Share”) for a period of 24 months after closing at a price of $0.40 per Warrant Share.

Canada Jetlines' first flight will be on 22 September between Toronto to Calgary

The new budget airline Canada Jetlines has confirmed that its first flight will be on 22 September from its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport to Calgary International Airport. 

Canada Jetlines will begin operations with biweekly flights operating Thursdays and Sundays out of Toronto to Calgary from 07:55am – 10:10am EST and returns from Calgary to Toronto 11:40am – 17:20 EST. The frequency will increase to three weekly flights, Thursdays through Sundays, starting October 13. This route will be the first operated by Canada Jetlines with more routes to exciting destinations to be announced soon.

Canada Jetlines Receives Air Operating Certificate from Transport Canada

Canada Jetlines, the new, all-Canadian, leisure airline, has received its air operating certificate (AOC) from Transport Canada, granting approval to initiate operations out of its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Securing the AOC confirms that Canada Jetlines has all required professional capabilities and adheres to all safety regulations needed for aircraft operations. Canada Jetlines looks forward to its inaugural flight and will be releasing new destinations and updated scheduling shortly.

Canada Jetlines delays start date......

Canada Jetlines, the new leisure airline has shifted its start date from 15 August to the 29th August, blaming delays with paperwork for its licence to operate as an airline. 

The airline was due to commence operations with a service from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Winnipeg and then Moncton, New Brunswick. “We’ve made the difficult decision to change our launch date as we continue to work with the regulatory authorities in Canada to secure our AOC,” shared Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “We greatly appreciate the effort and diligence that TC goes through to approve new airlines and remain optimistic throughout the process. We will continue to build strategic partnerships with destinations, travel agencies, and airports as we build out our five-year strategy.”

Canada Jetlines is working closely with Transport Canada and Canadian Transportation Association, who are currently evaluating all completed documentation required for this application. The carrier looks forward to welcoming Canadian travellers before the end of the summer season.

Canadian Transportation Agency approves Canada Jetlines to start ticket sales....

Canada Jetlines the new all-Canadian, leisure carrier has been given approval from the Canadian Transportation Agency to start selling tickets for air travel prior to issuance of its license. The CTA considers whether Canada Jetlines is taking all the necessary steps to meet all the license issuance requirements and whether Canada Jetlines has demonstrated a high probability of obtaining the required license prior to commencing operations.

 This exemption follows the Agency’s determination that the Company has met the Agency’s financial requirements. The Agency had previously determined that Canada Jetlines met the Canadian Control requirements. The formal commercial license will be issued following the issuance of the Air Operator Certificate by Transport Canada.

“This exemption is a testament to all the great work Canada Jetlines has done towards obtaining its license in time for starting operation in the summer of 2022. We intend to go public with our schedule and start selling flights in the coming weeks,” said Eddy Doyle CEO of Canada Jetlines. “We are looking forward to our first flights and the opportunity to offer Canadians a new and exciting air service option.”

Canada Jetlines Receives Stage 2 Approval from Canadian Transportation Agency



Canada Jetlines, the new all-Canadian, leisure carrier, is proud to announce that the Canadian Transportation Agency (“CTA”) has determined that the company has met the agency’s financial requirements. The CTA had previously determined that Canada Jetlines met the Canadian Control requirements. Brad Warren appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Canada Jetlines

The new leisure airline Canada Jetlines has announced this week, the appointment of Mr Brad Warren as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Maintenance at the budget airline.

With over 25 years of experience in the airline industry, prior to joining Canada Jetlines in April 2021, Brad served as Managing Director at Air Canada, accountable for line maintenance with more than 1,800 maintenance technicians in Canada and globally. His prior experience includes Vice President of Maintenance for Air Georgian and Regional 1 airlines, before taking a senior leadership role at Air Canada Rouge. The news follows Canada Jetlines’ announcement of Toronto Pearson International Airport (GTAA) as the airline’s new travel hub.

Canada Jetlines gets conditional approval from Transport Canada to start training flight attendants

Canada Jetlines, the new all-Canadian, leisure carrier, has received conditional approval for Flight Attendant Training from Transport Canada effective immediately. Final approval of Canada Jetlines’ Flight Attendant Training program will be granted once Transport Canada has reviewed the training conducted under the program and it proves to be satisfactory.

Percy Gyara has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Canada Jetlines

Percy Gyara has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer at the new Canadian start-up airline,  Canada Jetlines with the effect of March 28, 2022. 

Gyara has extensive finance and operational experience in the airline and travel sector in North America, he started with a Canadian charter operator Skyservice Airlines. His most recent roles include VP Finance at Sunwing Travel Group, the largest travel company in North America. Gyara has earned Certified General Accountant (CGA) from Canada and he is a Chartered Accountant (CA) from India.

Canada Jetlines has also postponed a planned launch of spring charter flights to Florida with Global Crossing Airlines.  The firm says this is due to the need to evaluate the impacts of the omicron variant. The two companies are now evaluating options for the next winter period which it expects to be an extremely busy travel season.

Canada Jetlines Announces Stage 1 Licensing Approval

Canada Jetlines announced this week that it has received a determination from the Canadian Transportation Agency that it meets the regulation requirements with regards to Canadian ownership and control. The CTA also completed Stage 1 “Determination of Financial Requirements” for Canada Jetlines’ application.

“I am very excited that Canada Jetlines has now received Canadian ownership and control approval and the Stage 1 determination from the CTA,” stated Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “We are now in the final stages of the licensing process, and I am confident we will satisfy the final requirements in time for a summer launch date.”

In 2021 Canada Jetlines commenced the application process for a license to operate air service, large aircraft pursuant from the CTA. The application process requires Canada Jetlines to provide information regarding the ownership structure and financial information in two stages. The first stage requires the provision of information and documentation regarding the funding requirements for the start-up and operation of an air service for a 90-day period. The second stage requires the provision of evidence that the requisite funding is in place to finance the proposed air service. Jetlines is advancing the completion of the funding to satisfy stage 2 requirements with the intention to commence air service in the summer of 2022, subject to final CTA and Transport Canada approval.

The Air Operator Certificate (“AOC”) application process with Transport Canada is progressing as planned, having achieved significant milestones never before achieved by Canada Jetlines. These include the approval of the majority of submitted manuals, conditional approval for pilot training, the completion of the first pilot course and simulator check ride. Subject to receiving Transport Canada approval, Canada Jetlines intends to start flight attendant training next month.

First aircraft for Canada Jetlines arrives in Canada............

The new ultra-low-cost airline Canada Jetlines has welcomed its first aircraft, an Airbus A320 registered under C-GCJL in Canada.

The twin-jet landed at the Kitchener/Waterloo Airport at 14:33 local on Saturday, February 26, 2022, arriving from Shannon, Ireland where it had recently been painted and the cabin refurbished. 

The flight was operated by Captain Randy Howe, Canada Jetlines’ Chief Pilot and Captain Colin Forrest, both pilots having recently completed their Canada Jetlines’ A320 pilot training and simulator check ride monitored by Transport Canada.

“This is a very special day for Canada Jetlines,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “I am very proud of the hard work completed by the entire Canada Jetlines team which made this day possible. The amazing aircraft livery and interior represent the new, fun, and exciting Canada Jetlines. This is an important milestone for our airline as we continue on the path to obtain our Air Operator Certificate from Transport Canada. We are looking forward to operating our first revenue flights and welcoming our first guests following the receipt of regulatory approvals.”

Canada Jetlines gets approval to start pilot training.

Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. has been given conditional approval for flight crew (pilot) training from Transport Canada effective immediately. Final approval of Canada Jetlines’ Pilot Training program will be granted once Transport Canada has reviewed the training conducted under the program and it proves to be satisfactory.

“This is an important milestone in the Air Operator Certificate process with Transport Canada. Our first crew will start their pilot training program this month and are scheduled to have completed simulator training in the later part of February,” shared Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “The Airbus 320 is a great aircraft and a pleasure to fly. I haven’t flown a commercial aircraft in the last four years, and I am a little envious of our pilots going on course.”

Wannabe start up Jetlines to merge with Global Crossing Airlines

Jetlines to join with Global Crossing Airlines (GLOBALX) for a charter airline as hopes of developing a Canadian ultra low-cost-carrier are vanishing faster than ice in the Sahara.  

GLOBALX is a developing United States based charter airline and is financially backed by two Miami based private-equity firms.  The firm is in the pre-revenue stage with its head office located at Miami International Airport with plans to operate a charter airline using the Airbus A320-200 aircraft.  The idea is to provide ACMI and wet-lease contracts to airlines operating within and to the United States.   It also wants to develop aircraft interchange with leading European charter/tour operator.

Canadian start-up, postpones start up after investors run


The Canadian start-up airline Jetlines loses SmartLynx and InHarv investments and is forced to postpone its proposed launch.

The future of the Canadian start-up ultra-low-cost carrier Jetlines looks less than certain as investors SmartLynx and InHarv ULCC Growth Fund have terminated their investment commitments in the airline. As a result, also gone are the two Airbus A320 aircraft SmartLynx was bringing to the deal and the December 17th lunch date has been kicked into the long grass and nobody knows when or if the airline will actually start flying.

Apparently, one of the main concerns of Jetlines management was investors believed the existing dominant members of Canada’s aviation scene would be aggressive once the company started operations. They said that its retained market analysis experts concluded:
