Blue Air to offer five flights a week between Bucharest - Düsseldorf!



Starting this April, the Romanian carrier Blue Air will offer five flights a week between Bucharest and Düsseldorf!

For a limited period, the airline has a special fare of just €19.99 one way - including taxes, with 10,000 seats being offered at that price, for travel between April 1st – October 29th, 2022. But you have to be quick,  this offer is only running until 30th January 2022.

First of 10 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for Blue Air is delivered.

The leasing giant, Air Lease Corporation has confirmed the delivery of the first of an order of 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to the Romanian airline Blue Air. These 737 aircraft are powered by CFM LEAP-1B25 engines and are placed on a long term lease with the carrier as it rapidly expands its European and short-haul route network. The nine further jets are scheduled to be delivered to Blue Air between April 2021 and the end of 2022.

This and the next projected deliveries will ensure Blue Air’s resilience and will secure our company position as the main Romanian player in the passenger aviation market,” said Cristian Rada, Majority Shareholder of Blue Air.

40 new summer season routes for Blue Air


The Summer Schedule is here! Blue Air have over 40 new routes this season! Flights are already available for booking, and prices start at 9.99 euros / segment. All reservations include the option to change the flight data once, without paying the travel data change fee, paying only the fare difference, where applicable.


Blue Air introduces over 40 new routes in the Summer Schedule 2021. The new destinations included in the summer programme are the following:


From Bucharest: Athens, Barcelona, Bari, Birmingham, Bologna, Catania, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Heraklion, Iasi, Lisbon, Madrid, Munich, Mykonos, Olbia, Prague, Rhodes, Rome Fiumicino, Turin, Vienna, Zakynthos
From Cluj: Amsterdam Schiphol, Barcelona, Burgas, Brussels, Constanta, Dublin, Hamburg, Cologne, Larnaca, London Heathrow, Madrid, Milan Linate, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome Fiumicino and Stuttgart.
From Bacau: Athens, Larnaca
From Turin: Cagliari, Palermo, Olbia
From Iasi: London Heathrow, Bucharest
From Suceava: Bucharest
Currently, Blue Air operates 18 Boeing 737 aircraft series 737-300, 737-500 and 737-800 with a capacity between 120 and 189 seats.

Blue Air’s fleet was retrofitted with a more comfortable, better designed seat - Recaro. Passengers can now experience one of the lightest class of seats, designed for relaxation, with reclining backrests.

Blue Air Extends Partnership with Navitaire

Blue Air, Romania’s largest airline by passengers carried, has extended its partnership with Navitaire, an Amadeus company. Under the terms of the agreement, Blue Air will continue to use Navitaire’s New Skies® digital retail reservations platform as its passenger service system (PSS) and will add Navitaire’s pricing optimization and GoNow day-of-departure solutions.

Blue Air plans to expand the use of Navitaire’s solutions to deliver best in class ultra-low-cost customer experience and to improve its personalization, advanced retailing, data and digital platform capabilities. New Skies allows Blue Air to offer a seamless, multichannel, digital customer experience that makes it easy to book flights and ancillary services throughout its customers’ journey. The airline also looks to offer an improved travel experience at the airport with Navitaire’s GoNow day-of-departure system’s intuitive agent application, integrated with customer self-service tools, for fast and easy passenger servicing. As with all Navitaire solutions, New Skies and GoNow are tightly integrated.

Blue Air to offer new routes and additional flights from Turin starting September 2020

The low-cost Romanian airline Blue Air recently announced it would be expanding its operations from Turin by basing two aircraft at the Italian city and introducing new routes and increasing frequencies on existing ones. "By allocating two aircraft to our Turin base, we are now further developing our local network, introducing new routes, and supplementing our flights between Italy’ s most sought-after destinations," Oana Petrescu, the airlines CEO said.

Blue Air confirmed these changes would take place in September and would see the growing airline upgrade its offer of 7 domestic routes (2 New) from Turin with a double daily service to Catania, a daily service to Lamezia Terme and new services to Bari (New) and Cagliari (New), in addition to the existing service to Naples, Alghero and Trapani. 

Blue Air will fly to 8 destinations from/to its Turin base, according to the following schedule:

Blue Air launches a new route to Amsterdam!

Blue Air launches a new route to Amsterdam!

Starting for September 4, Blue Air will launch daily flights to Amsterdam from its home base of Bucharest with prices starting at just €20.99.

The flights to the capital of the Netherlands will depart Bucharest at 08:20 and arrive in Amsterdam at  10:20 each day. The return flight departs 11:10 and arrives in  Bucharest at 15:10 local times. 

The carrier has also recently restarted scheduled flights to most of its traditional destinations from both Bucharest and Bacau.

Cobalt Collapse - Cypriot low-cost carrier suspends operations...........Blue Air to offer some rescue flights

The Cypriot low-cost airline Cobalt has suspended all operations indefinitely, stranding hundreds of passengers across Europe.   

The airline flew to 23 destinations around Europe - including the London airports of Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick. The airline, that started in 2016, also flew to Manchester and destinations in the Middle East and Russia. 

Cobalt posted a message on its website shortly before midnight yesterday, Wednesday, October 17th advising passengers than it had cancelled all flights future flights and that they should contact their travel agents or credit card providers for a refund.  

According to local media, the airline had been trying to get extra finance for some time, both from its Chinese backers as well as new sources. However, the management had been unsuccessful in that attempt to save the company.  

The airline employed around 200 people and had grown rapidly in the two years since the start of its operations when it filled a gap in the market left when the former Cyprus Airways went bankrupt. However, the airline had faced greatly increased competition from low-cost rivals and the newly formed Cyprus Airways.

Blue Air to start winter service to Marrakech from home base of Bucharest

Blue Air, the Romanian carrier has confirmed it will be operating a brief winter service from Bucharest to the popular Moroccan city of Marrakech from the 3rd November.

The airline has scheduled a Boeing 737-400 to the route that will operate each week on a Saturday. The flight departs Bucharest at 1000 and arrives in Marrakech at 1310 local time. Following a rapid 50 minute turnaround, the return flight departs 1400 and gets back in Bucharest at 2045. 

Blue Air offers three types of fare, Light - which is always its lowest flight only fare, although it also includes a 10kg cabin bag allowance. Classic is the next level up with includes the airfare, 10 kg cabin bag, 20 kg check-in bag, 50% discount on change fee and a reserved seat. The upper level is Premium which features, 10 kg cabin bag, 32kg check-in bag, no fee for a date or route change, premium seats and a complimentary meal.

Blue Air is based in Romania's capital and largest city, Bucharest, which is the beating cultural, industrial, and financial heart of the country. Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 aircraft, mixed between the 300, 400, 500, 700 and 800 models with seat configurations ranging from 120 to 189 seats.

During the summer of 2017, Blue Air announced a firm order of twelve Boeing 737 MAX 8, which are due to start arriving in the middle of 2019 and will allow the airline to both expand as well as retire older aircraft. The fleet was refurbished with more comfortable, better designed seat from makers Recaro, which have proved popular with passengers.
