WestJet to start a new service between Penticton and Vancouver

WestJet enhances intra-B.C. connectivity with a new service between Penticton and Vancouver



Canadian carrier WestJet has confirmed it will be starting a new route between Penticton, B.C., and Vancouver beginning in February of 2023. The route will strengthen critical intra-provincial connectivity for British Columbians and local businesses and is scheduled to operate six-times weekly on WestJet Link.

"The addition of new intra-provincial routes is critical as we invest in our presence in the West and look to strengthen our offerings to ensure British Columbians have more access to convenient and affordable air travel," said Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet Director of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs. "This new route marks the initial steps in our renewed commitment to B.C., and will open up connections and opportunities for local businesses and residents as they recover from the difficult past few years."

Air service returns to Dawson Creek as WestJet Link launches flights from Calgary


The Canadian airline WestJet has opened up sales on its newest route launched its newest route linking Calgary and Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

The inaugural flight marked a new link for the regions' business, travel and tourism markets as WestJet becomes the only carrier to provide nonstop service between the Peace River Region and a major international largest Calgary. 

"Our guests in both Calgary and the Peace River Region have been patiently awaiting this important milestone and we are thrilled to bring air service to the community," said John Weatherill, WestJet Chief Commercial Officer. "As we continue to build back our network, Dawson Creek will benefit from lower fares and connectivity across our network as we strive to reconnect Canadians for business and leisure."

The airlines first flight, number 3027' was welcomed on arrival in Dawson Creek by Mayor Dale Bumstead alongside Chris Hedlin, WestJet's Vice-President of Network Planning and key regional business leaders.

"The City of Dawson Creek is so pleased to welcome WestJet into our city and the entire South Peace region of Northeast BC. This new direct service to Calgary is so important to the economic development of our city," said Dale Bumstead, Mayor, Dawson Creek. "The Energy, Forestry and Mining sectors are all very important to our region and this new service will be a welcome addition for industry while also providing our residents with nonstop air service to WestJet's global hub in Calgary for their leisure and business travel."

The new service and new route for WestJet operates four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.  WestJet Link flights are operated through a capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coastal Airlines using its fleet of WestJet-branded 34-seat Saab 340 aircraft.

With the addition of Calgary-Dawson Creek service, WestJet Link now operates five routes between Calgary and Cranbrook, Lethbridge, Lloydminster and Medicine Hat and three between Vancouver and Cranbrook, Nanaimo and Comox.

WestJet to launch new non-stop daily service between Dawson Creek, B.C., and Calgary on WestJet Link

WestJet has announced that it will add new non-stop daily service between Dawson Creek, B.C., and Calgary on WestJet Link beginning April 26, 2020.

The year-round service will give guests from Dawson Creek the opportunity to travel conveniently for business and pleasure throughout the WestJet network, where the airline operates more than 1,000 flights per week to more than 72 destinations across the globe from Calgary.

"Providing the opportunity for convenient travel into and out of Calgary will help strengthen Dawson Creek's already vibrant oil and gas, agriculture and tourism industries, many of which have links to Calgary and beyond," said Arved von zur Muehlen, WestJet Chief Commercial Officer. "The value of connecting people, markets and communities is immeasurable and we look forward to bringing Canada's favourite airline to the city this April."

With the addition of Calgary-Dawson Creek service, WestJet Link will now operate five routes between Calgary and Cranbrook, Lethbridge, Lloydminster and Medicine Hat and one between Cranbrook and Vancouver. WestJet Link operations between Calgary and Prince George, B.C., will shift to year-round service on WestJet Encore's 78-seat DHC-8-400 aircraft effective April 26.

 WestJet has confirmed that it will add new non-stop daily service between Dawson Creek, B.C., and Calgary on WestJet Link beginning April 26, 2020.

WestJet now connecting Vancouver and Cranbrook


WestJet's regional air service, WestJet Link has celebrated the expansion of its services following its inaugural flight between the airline's hub in Vancouver and Cranbrook, B.C.



Guests now have better access and more convenient options for travel to and from the interior of British Columbia," said Brian Znotins, WestJet Vice-President Network Planning and Alliances. "Whether travelling for business or leisure, this new route gives guests the option to connect through our hub in Vancouver to destinations across our global network, including London U.K. on our Dreamliner."

Since its inception in June 2018, WestJet Link has operated more than 7,000 flights between WestJet's home and largest hub in Calgary to Cranbrook, Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat and Prince George. In just over a year more than 200,000 guests have benefited from more convenient travel and better connectivity onto WestJet's larger network through WestJet Link.

WestJet's newest air service, WestJet Link is celebrating carrying more than 195,000 guests in its first year of operation between Calgary and five cities in British Columbia and Alberta.

Since its inception last June, WestJet Link has operated over 7,000 flights between WestJet's home and largest hub in Calgary to Cranbrook, Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat and Prince George. Guests from these areas have benefitted from more choice, lower fares and better connectivity through the service.

"WestJet Link is working the way it was designed to give guests convenient access to the WestJet network along with a caring experience from start to finish," said Brian Znotins, WestJet Vice-President Network Planning and Alliances. WestJet Link takes off.......... the new regional airline begins services

WestJet inaugurated its new regional airline service today, WestJet Link, from Cranbrook and Prince George to Calgary. Service starts from Lethbridge and Lloydminster to Calgary on June 21 and Medicine Hat to Calgary on June 22. Overall, WestJet Link connects five new cities to WestJet's growing hub at the YYC Calgary International Airport.

"This is a great day for the communities who now benefit from WestJet's non-stop service and convenient connectivity to the WestJet network," said Tim Croyle, WestJet Interim Executive Vice-President, Commercial. "WestJet continues to offer Canadians more travel options and WestJet Link brings more choice, lower fares and WestJet's renowned guest service to these five communities."

These new routes add to WestJet's existing leadership position in Calgary, offering more flights and seats to more destinations than any other airline with an average of 147 daily departures to 49 destinations.
