Turkish Airlines to lease ten new Airbus A321neo aircraft.......

AerCap has just confirmed it has reached an agreement with Turkish Airlines for the lease of ten new Airbus A321neo aircraft.

"We are very pleased to support Turkish Airlines with the lease of these ten new A321neo aircraft, helping them to continue to grow their extensive route network while modernizing their narrowbody fleet for greater operational efficiency," said Aengus Kelly, the Chief Executive Officer of AerCap. "We wish Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Mr. Levent Konukcu and the entire Turkish Airlines' management team every success and we look forward to building on our long-term partnership as these aircraft deliver, and beyond."



Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, stated, "We are happy to further enhance our fleet with ten new Airbus A321neo aircraft through our partnership with AerCap. Turkish Airlines orders four more Boeing 777 Freighters

Turkish Airlines has confirmed an order for four more Boeing  777 Freighters to further strengthen its global reach in the cargo market.  According to Boeing,  with this latest order, Turkish Airlines will operate 12 of the 777 Freighters. The price of the jets has not been released, however, the carrier previously obtained a 49.9% discount from the US manufacturer on other aircraft orders. 

"This new investment in expanding our cargo fleet underscores our commitment to meeting the growing global demand for air freight services," said Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer Ali Türk. "The addition of these Boeing 777 Freighters will not only enhance our operational capabilities, but also serve as another step in our strategic vision to reach the top of air cargo sector worldwide while maintaining our leading position with our unparalleled service and efficiency for our customers across the globe."

Turkish Airlines named 'Most Sustainable Flag Carrier Airline' in World Finance's Sustainability Awards 2024

Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, continues to set an example in the aviation sector with its pioneering sustainability initiatives. Once again, Turkish Airlines has been honored with the 'Most Sustainable Flag Carrier Airline' award by World Finance, marking the prestigious recognition for the third consecutive year.

Amid the significant challenges posed by the climate crisis to the aviation industry, Turkish Airlines stands out with its voluntary carbon offset platform CO2mission, use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), sustainable in-flight products, waste management practices, and the sustainable travel experience it offers to its passengers.

Commenting on the award, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, said: "Receiving the Most Sustainable Flag Carrier Airline award for the third-year running is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Turkish Airlines has set a strategic goal to become one of the world's top three airlines in terms of digitalisation. Turkish Airlines' loyalty programme does tie up with travel tech company utu

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles has joined the growing roster of international airline loyalty programs taking advantage of travel tech company utu's 40% tax refund boost for travellers.

Sanjay Chinchwade, Chief Commercial Officer, Partnerships, said, "Our goal is to transform tax-free shopping by providing travellers with the best value for their overseas purchases. This partnership not only allows Turkish Airlines' Miles&Smiles members to earn 40% more on their VAT refunds but to enjoy their travel more as well, as they collect bonus Miles from their tax-free Shopping."

Turkish Airlines Director of Marketing Arif Ali Gezmişoğlu stated: "At Turkish Airlines, we continuously strive to enhance our passengers' travel experience. Turkish Airlines to add One  Airbus A330-300 and six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its fleet on lease from CDB Aviation


CDB Aviation, the aircraft leasing and management firm of the China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co. has confirmed the signing of new lease agreements for a fleet of an additional seven narrowbody and widebody aircraft to Turkish Airlines.  

The flag carrier of Turkey is getting one used Airbus A330-343 which is scheduled to arrive at the carrier during May this year. This widebody jet will help support the expansion of Turkish Airlines' mainline international operations. 

The carrier is also getting another six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and these will be received between 2025 and 2026 and will be used by subsidiary, Ajet. The new jets will be powered by CFM International Leap-1B engine and are coming from CDB's existing orderbook with Boeing.

“We are delighted to continue building upon a strong and long-term partnership with our valued customer, Turkish Airlines,” commented Jie Chen, CDB Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer. “The 737 MAX 8 aircraft will contribute toward the airline’s stated goal for Ajet to become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale, while the A330 will provide the increased capacity to support its ever-expanding global network.”

Türkiye’s national carrier, Turkish Airlines, will expand its fleet with an order for 220 Airbus aircraft, made up of 150 Airbus’ best selling A321s and 70 of the world’s most modern and efficient A350 widebody aircraft (50 A350-900s, 15 A350-1000s and 5 A350F freighters). This follows two orders from the airline for 10 A350-900s in September and four A350-900s in July 2023. This latest order will take Turkish Airlines’ total orderbook for Airbus aircraft to 504, of which 212 are already delivered.

The A321neo is the largest aircraft in Airbus’ A320neo Family, offering unparalleled range and performance. By incorporating new generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo brings a 50% noise reduction and more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft. Having the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky, the aircraft is the perfect contender for maximising comfort.

To date over 5,600 A321neos have been ordered by more than 100 customers across the globe.

Turkish Airlines and Riyadh Air agree strategic cooperation deal


Turkish Airlines and Riyadh Air have agreed to offer a comprehensive range of benefits for guests travelling between the Kingdom, Türkiye and points beyond their Riyadh and Istanbul hubs, as well as lay the ground for deeper future collaborations. Passengers of both airlines will be able to take full advantage of each carrier's worldwide network through a comprehensive interline and codeshare agreement that will allow customers to seamlessly connect between and combine sectors operated by either Riyadh Air or Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines Chief Investment & Technology Officer, Levent Konukcu and Riyadh Air CEO, Tony Douglas, signed the agreement at a ceremony on the sidelines of the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN 2023) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The intention of both carriers is that benefits will be made available to guests as soon as possible after Riyadh Air launches operations in mid-2025 and is subject to regulatory approvals by relevant authorities.

The cooperation will allow members of each carrier's loyalty program to earn points or credits when travelling on codeshare services operated by the other, with both airlines also exploring opportunities to develop a broader loyalty agreement covering both global networks. In addition to offering a comprehensive range of guest benefits, the MoU also commits Riyadh Air and Turkish Airlines to work together to explore and implement broader synergies and efficiencies across the value chain, touching areas such as aviation-related services, cargo and digital development.

SunExpress to buy up to 90 Boeing 737 MAX jets

The agreement includes 45 737-8 and 737-10 models with the opportunity for up to 45 more jets



 Boeing and SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, announced today the airline has again selected the 737 MAX to continue its robust growth. With a commitment to purchase up to 90 fuel-efficient single-aisle Boeing jets, announced at the Dubai Airshow, Türkiye's leading leisure carrier will more than double its fleet into the next decade. The agreement includes 28 737- MAX 8 and 17 737- MAX 10 models, with the opportunity for up to 45 additional 737 MAX airplanes.

"Building on the resounding success of our strategy in the post-pandemic period, SunExpress is now poised for next-level growth to meet market demand and achieve a greater international footprint," said Max Kownatzki, SunExpress CEO. "Over the next decade, we will more than double our fleet, reaching a 150-aircraft fleet by 2033. Also, the addition of the 737- MAX 10, the newest 737 MAX plane with up to 230 seats, to our fleet will allow us to strengthen our capacity further. SunExpress is well-positioned for the future and will expand its network with a more fuel-efficient and environmentally sustainable aircraft fleet, while continuing to fulfill its role as Türkiye's tourism ambassador."

This new commitment from SunExpress will build on the airline's previous order for 42 737- MAX 8s, nine of which have been delivered.

BOC Aviation delivers the final of five new Airbus A320NEO aircraft to Turkish Airlines


Leasing giant, BOC Aviation has confirmed this week that it has delivered the final of five new Airbus A320NEO aircraft to Turkish Airlines. All five are part of BOC's existing order book and air on long-term lease to the Turkish flag carrier. 

“We are pleased to announce this transaction, which deepens our longstanding relationship with Turkish Airlines,” said Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, BOC Aviation. “The five A320NEO aircraft that we have delivered to the company reflect our commitment to providing our customers with the world’s most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft.” 

Turkish Airlines is based at its main hub in Istanbul, Turkey and operates a fleet of more than 380 aircraft to over 340 national and international destinations. Celebrating its 90th year since inception, its shares are listed on the Borsa Istanbul and it has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2008.

Big aircraft order for Turkish Airlines

AerCap to lease 3 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners
25 New 737 MAX-8 jets 



AerCap has announced that it has reached an agreement with Turkish Airlines for the lease of three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 25 new MAX-8 aircraft, and lease extensions for six used Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The new aircraft are scheduled to begin delivery in 2024 through 2026.

Türkiye’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, has announced a new order for 10 additional A350-900 aircraft, taking its total for the type to 40. This latest agreement is in addition to one announced in August for four A350-900s. Turkish Airlines already operates a fleet of 14 A350-900s.

Turkish Airlines named 'Most Sustainable Flag Carrier Airline' in World Finance Awards for the second consecutive year

The climate crisis presents great challenges for the aviation industry, and as the global face of Türkiye, Turkish Airlines continues to take great steps in combating climate change.


Turkish Airlines, which was crowned as the 'Most Sustainable Flag Carrier Airline' in World Finance's Sustainability Awards 2023, won the same award last year as well.

In the magazine's summer issue, the company outlined the sustainable travel experience it offers, including voluntary carbon offset platform CO2mission, usage of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), in-flight sustainable products and waste management along with digitalisation projects.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr Ahmet Bolat said within the exclusive World Finance article, "Turkish Airlines has set a goal to be one of the top three airlines in the world in terms of digitisation within three years as part of its strategic plan. Our company, in line with our commitment to be a 'Carbon Neutral Airline in 2050,' have expanded the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which we started to use as of 2022, by adding additional lines in 2023 as part of our plans to combat climate change."

Turkish Airlines signs lease deal for 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft


Yesterday the Chinese Development Banks aircraft leasing subsidiary CDB Leasing confirmed the signing of lease agreements for a series of six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with Turkish Airlines for its  AnadoluJet subsidiary. 

All six aircraft are part of the lessor's existing orderbook with Boeing. They will be powered by CFM International Leap-1B engines and built with the AnadolouJet-specific configuration, which is a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. Deliveries are set to take place in 2024 and 2025.

“We’re delighted to have signed these new lease agreements with our valued customer, Turkish Airlines, for the financing of the upcoming six 737 MAX aircraft deliveries from our orderbook,” stated Jie Chen, CDB Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer. “Turkish has become a leader among airlines in undertaking sustainability-focused initiatives to modernize every stage of their flight and ground operations. These highly efficient aircraft will bring Turkish closer to achieving their ambitious sustainability goals by lessening the environmental footprint of their mainline and subsidiary carrier’s flight operations.”

ITA Airways and Turkish Airlines launch codeshare deal


ITA Airways, the national flag carrier of Italy, and Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to more countries than any other carrier in the World, jointly announce the commencement of a codeshare partnership that will be effective within July 2023. The signed agreement between the two flag carriers will be offering more flexibility in terms of flight choices for customers of both airlines between Italy and Türkiye.

Through this codeshare partnership, ITA Airways’ marketing flight numbers will be placed on Turkish Airlines’ flights between Rome and Istanbul; and Turkish Airlines will place its marketing numbers on 9 destinations of ITA Airways within Italy from Rome, including Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Turin and Trieste. This partnership will be providing enhanced services to customers of both airlines with a seamless connectivity of a single ticket and through check-in of passengers and luggage to their final destination.

airBaltic and Turkish Airlines start codeshare deal

The Latvian airline airBaltic and the national flag carrier of Türkiye – Turkish Airlines – jointly announce the commencement of a codeshare partnership, effective as of May 1, 2023. The agreement enables both carriers to provide more flexibility to their passengers on direct flights between Türkiye and Latvia.

Within the scope of the codeshare cooperation, airBaltic and Turkish Airlines place their marketing flight numbers on each Riga-Istanbul flight and vice versa. The codeshare agreement attracts an increasing number of passengers and allows customers of both carriers to benefit from seamless connectivity via their hubs.

As announced previously, this summer season airBaltic will launch its highest-ever number of new routes in a single season so far – a total of 20 new routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere. Among the new destinations is also Istanbul, to which airBaltic launched four weekly flights on April 2, 2023.

Atlas Air and Turkish Airlines partner in delivering humanitarian and relief supplies for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

Atlas Air worked with Turkish Airlines to send a Boeing 747-8F from Washington Dulles International Airport last week carrying tonnes of humanitarian and relief supplies for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. 

The two companies, along with the Turkish Embassy, are working together to expedite this relief mission to support the critical needs of thousands of people impacted by this natural disaster. Atlas Air is providing the aircraft and crew and Turkish Airlines is collecting clothes, shoes, medical supplies and other essentials. 

“Through our partnership with Turkish Airlines, we are honoured to contribute air freight capacity to deliver critical supplies to this region where they are needed the most,” said John Dietrich, President and Chief Executive Officer, of Atlas Air Worldwide. “We are moved by the heroic work of first responders and humanitarian organizations to provide relief to the communities impacted by this natural disaster.  On behalf of our 5,000 Atlas employees around the world, we are grateful for this opportunity to show our support.”

Turkish Technic to Provide Base Maintenance Services to Air Serbia


Turkish Technic, a leading provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services has signed an agreement with the flag carrier of Serbia, Air Serbia, for the base maintenance services of four Airbus A320 family along with an A330 aircraft.

In accordance with the contract, base maintenance of the first Airbus A320ceo aircraft has commenced at Turkish Technic’s Istanbul Ataturk Airport facilities. Its Certificate of Release to Service will be issued in the first week of February. The other aircraft within the scope of the contract will be taken to service at Istanbul Ataturk Airport facilities in the upcoming months.

With 40 bookable airlines on board, cargo.one has now secured close to 50% of global air cargo capacity for instant booking on its platform.

Turkish Cargo is a major international operator, achieving exceptional growth across market segments, flight networks and transported tonnage in recent years. In 2010, the carrier was ranked 33rd in the world and has risen steadily to 14th in 2017, and now 5th globally in 2022. Investments in state-of-the-art SMARTIST, its Istanbul mega cargo hub, sustainability programmes and a comprehensive digitalization strategy have helped Turkish Cargo increase business volumes to 9.1 million tonne-kilometres during 2021.

Following the IATA's 78th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Doha, four representatives from Turkish Airlines are appointed to the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Advisory Councils for the next three-year term. Representing 290 airlines and 120 countries, IATA maintains an international perspective and provides a global voice on behalf of its members, based on the relationships with governments and other industry stakeholders around the world, advocating on behalf of its members on key industry issues.

Kerem Kızıltunç, Chief Corporate Development and IT Officer, Turhan Özen, Chief Cargo Officer, Berkant Kolcu, SVP Legal and Compliance and Özlem Salihoğlu, SVP International Relations and Alliances have been appointed to 4 IATA Advisory Councils (IAC), namely Digital Transformation Advisory Council, Cargo Advisory Council, Legal Advisory Council and Industry Affairs Advisory Council respectively. Mr. Kızıltunç is also elected as Vice-Chair Digital Transformation Advisory Council for 2022-2024 period and he is to be assigned as Chair Digital Transformation Advisory Council for 2024-2026 period.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee and Board of Governors member in IATA, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated: “After IATA Board of Governors membership, Turkish Airlines’ appearance on global stage is strengthening with these 4 significant assignments. I believe that our colleagues will represent Turkish Airlines in accordance with their expertise and dedication to improve industry for all of us.

These high-profile assignments to 4 of the 9 IATA Advisory Councils will positively affect the competence of Turkish Airlines in the airline industry. Elected executives of Turkish Airlines will advise the Board and work closely with IATA management on all matters referred by the IATA Director General with all other council member airlines.

IACs members are appointed by the Director General based on nominations from member airline CEOs and following review by the Chair Committee and the approval of the Chair Committee and the Board. The Advisory Councils meet at least twice a year at IATA’s offices in Montreal, Geneva, Singapore, Miami, or Madrid and may establish working groups to provide technical advice on an on-going basis and task forces to address specific time-limited projects.
