EVEN Hotels makes its debut in Asia

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has opened the doors to the its first EVEN Hotels property in Greater China. The unveiling of the hotel in the heart of Nanjing, China marks the first EVEN Hotel in Asia and outside of the Americas. Since the first EVEN Hotels opening in 2014, IHG’s lifestyle and wellness offering is designed to meet the large and growing demand for wellness-minded travellers and help them maintain their balance on the road.
The 172-room EVEN Hotel Nanjing Yangtze River, located near the National Green Bay Wetland Park and Youth Olympic Stadium, is equipped with wellness-savvy staff, best-in-class fitness experiences, an indoor tennis court, an indoor heated swimming pool, a bowling club, 7 meeting rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, balanced food choices and relaxing spaces. The hotel also boasts an impressive water fountain with spectacular light shows during the evening. Owned by Yangtze State-owned Investment Group, and managed by IHG, the property is the brand’s first location in Asia. The hotel is the result of a strong owner relationship of IHG in Greater China. IHG announces strategic partnership with Asset World Corporation (AWC) for the development of more than 1,200 rooms in Thailand

IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced a strategic partnership with long-standing partner Asset World Corporate (AWC), Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real-estate group, to manage a portfolio of properties across Thailand. The agreement will see the development of more than 1,200 rooms across Thailand, with the first signing announced today as the 306-room InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping. 

Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, IHG South East Asia and Korea commented, “With plans to double our portfolio in Thailand in the next 3-5 years, this signing today between IHG and AWC is another milestone in realising this ambition. Their reputation as a lifestyle and real-estate group, and long-standing relationship with IHG gives us great confidence of this growth momentum in Thailand.”

Under the structure of the agreement, hotels in multiple popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Hua Hin will be signed within three years. The first signing of the agreement announced today is the 306-room InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping Hotel.

IHG increases its visibility in Vietnam with two hotels on the Ho Tram Strip

IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, signed agreements with Ho Tram Project Company Limited (HTP) to rebrand The Grand Ho Tram at the Ho Tram Strip integrated resort to InterContinental Grand Ho Tram within a year after refurbishments. A new-build Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach will also open in 2020. The signing reinforces IHG’s growth in resort locations in Vietnam, and strengthens its presence in the region.

Construction of new Hyatt Place San Jose Cariari to increase Hyatt’s brand presence in Central America

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that Hyatt has entered into a management agreement with Cariari Premium Outlets S.A. and affiliates for a new Hyatt Place hotel in the province of Heredia in Costa Rica. The 120-room Hyatt Place San Jose Cariari will be located less than one mile away from the recently opened Costa Rica Convention Center, in the heart of the country’s most important economic centre.

With construction expected to begin in early 2020, Hyatt Place San Jose Cariari is projected to open in the second quarter of 2021, and will join the already open Hyatt Place San Jose Pinares and Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica. Known for its approachable service and uncomplicated experience, the Hyatt Place brand continues to increase its presence in Central America with hotels currently operating in Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has signed a Management Agreement with Al Rawabi Regional Company for Hotels Resorts and Tourism Ltd. to open InterContinental® Durrat Al Riyadh next year. The announcement follows several high-profile signings this year, across IHG’s midscale, upscale and luxury brands, underscoring the company’s aggressive expansion plans across the Kingdom. 

IHG has a strong legacy in Saudi Arabia, having opened its first luxury hotel, InterContinental Riyadh, in 1975 and has since positioned itself as one of the largest hospitality players in the country. IHG continues to have a strong foothold in the luxury segment through the flagship brand, InterContinental which has great recognition in Saudi Arabia.

The ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa officially opens

Located in the Oita Prefecture in Southwestern Japan, Beppu is a rich and authentic destination, famous for being the largest producer of madake - a Japanese timber bamboo and home to no less than eight major geothermal hot springs, which have often been referred to as the "eight hells of Beppu!  Now it is also home to a world-class resort, as the region’s first international luxury resort is now open thanks to the InterContinental Beppu Resort and Spa.


The opening strengthens the long-term venture with ANA and IHG in Japan and joins over 200 InterContinental Hotels & Resorts worldwide. Leading the way in luxury, the resort is one of four immersive resorts to open in 2019, with InterContinental Hayman Island Resort opened on 1 July and InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and InterContinental Phuket Resort opening in September.

IHG - InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has today announced that its entire hotel estate of almost 843,000 guest rooms will switch to bulk-size bathroom amenities, with the transition to be completed during 2021. Building on its efforts to reduce plastic waste as part of a broader sustainability agenda, this pledge makes IHG the first global hotel company to commit all brands to removing bathroom miniatures in favour of bulk-size amenities.

Keith Barr, CEO, IHG, commented: "It’s more important than ever that companies challenge themselves to operate responsibly – we know it’s what our guests, owners, colleagues, investors and suppliers rightly expect. Switching to larger-size amenities across more than 5,600 hotels around the world is a big step in the right direction and will allow us to significantly reduce our waste footprint and environmental impact as we make the change. 

“We’ve already made great strides in this area, with almost a third of our estate already adopting the change and we’re proud to lead our industry by making this a brand standard for every single IHG hotel. Holiday Inn Express & Suites opens in Ensenada, Mexico

The InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, announces the opening of the new-build 100-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ensenada Centro hotel in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. It becomes the brand’s first property in the leisure destination.

IHG Arrives in Northwestern Peru With the Opening of Holiday Inn Piura

The Holiday Inn Piura hotel is the company’s first brand to open in Piura, which is the business hub of Peru’s northern region.
