Air Greenland selects Airbus H225 helicopter for search and rescue

Greenland – Air Greenland has ordered two Airbus H225 heavy helicopters to support its bid to win its home country’s search and rescue (SAR) contract.

Under the terms of a firm contract assisted by Airbus Helicopters, two H225s repurposed from the oil and gas industry will be delivered over the coming months to replace the ageing S-61 helicopter currently used for the service.

Airbus will provide a comprehensive maintenance and support package as well as pilot and crew training.

Airbus Helicopters Head of Europe Region Olivier Michalon said: “At Airbus, we are proud that the deployment of the H225 will help ensure the safety of global maritime traffic transiting the Greenland-Iceland gap to and from the Arctic region”.

Lufthansa Group expands tourist-oriented long-haul portfolio in Frankfurt and Munich with Eurowings

First-ever Eurowings presence in Frankfurt as of October 
Lufthansa will support marketing and sales for the new long-haul destinations 
In Munich, Eurowings will supplement Lufthansa’s long-haul portfolio with daily flights to Bangkok 


Lufthansa Group will be significantly expanding its tourist-oriented long-haul portfolio at its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. After the successes of Edelweiss in Zürich and the deployment of the first few Eurowings long-haul aircraft departing from Munich, there will now also be flights available from Frankfurt, along with an increase in flights from Munich. For Frankfurt Airport, this means that, as of Fall 2019, Eurowings will be taking off from the metropolis on the Main river.

As a first step, Eurowings will offer flights from Frankfurt to the popular vacation islands Mauritius and Barbados when the winter flight schedule goes into effect in October 2019. In addition to this, there will also be flights to Windhoek in Namibia, with other destinations currently being planned. All flights will be available for booking as of 13 March 2019.

SkyTaxi of Poland lease another Boeing 767

Cargo Aircraft Management a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, has announced the delivery of a Boeing 767-200 converted freighter to SkyTaxi of Poland under a seven-year lease.

Cargo Aircraft Management also has granted SkyTaxi an option to lease a second Boeing 767-200 freighter for delivery in 2019. SkyTaxi currently operates two Saab 340 aircraft from its home base at Copernicus Airport Wrocław.

Wojciech Nocun, the spokesman of SkyTaxi, said: “We are delighted to introduce this widebody freighter into our fleet. The cooperation with ATSG and their sister companies is great, and the huge support, understanding and guidance is essential. The Boeing 767 freighter is going to be a game-changing aircraft in SkyTaxi’s fleet. We will join the growing cargo market community and as we speak, we finalise arrangements with major brokers for the introduction of the freighter for their customers – right in time for the peak season before Christmas.”
