Marriott International accelerates growth across europe

Growth plans across the continent reflect the confidence owners continue have in the company

From the International Hospitality Investment Forum in Berlin, Marriott International, Inc. today announced plans to add nearly 100 properties and over 12,000 rooms to its portfolio in Europe portfolio through hotel conversions and adaptive reuse projects, the conversion of existing buildings into a hotel, by the end of 2026. The anticipated hotels represent more than 40 percent of the company’s European development pipeline expected to open during that period.

The robust growth plans are expected to strengthen the company’s footprint across Europe, where it currently has a portfolio of over 800 properties with nearly 150,000 rooms across 25 brands in 47 countries and territories.

The St. Joe Company and InterMountain Management, LLC Announce the Opening of the 121-Suite Residence Inn by Marriott Panama City Beach Pier Park

The St. Joe Company and InterMountain Management, LLC announce the opening of the 121-suite Residence Inn by Marriott Panama City Beach Pier Park (“Residence Inn”). The hotel is located at 15900 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach, FL 32413 in the popular Pier Park® shopping and entertainment district.


Managed by InterMountain, the pet-friendly hotel features 121 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom guest suites with full kitchens, equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa opens fully renovated spa at Sanibel Harbour

More than a year after Hurricane Ian wreaked destruction on Ft. Myers and Sanibel Island, Florida, the Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa is proud to announce the opening of the newly transformed Spa at Sanibel Harbour, the largest and most comprehensive spa in Southwest Florida.

The 40,000 square feet, full-service spa, salon and fitness complex features 28 treatment rooms, and comprehensive spa treatments, co-ed spa experiences, a private bridal suite, full-day spa experiences, new, luxurious results-oriented skin care product lines, a variety of wellness/fitness classes, and recreation components including eight new pickleball courts and three tennis courts with open play and instructed lessons and clinics.

Marriott International Celebrates 1,000 Hotels in Asia Pacific


Marriott International,  announced the milestone opening of its 1,000th hotel in Asia Pacific, signaling its continued confidence in the long-term growth potential of the region. The company entered the region nearly 50 years ago and has steadily increased its Asia Pacific footprint.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne is the company’s 1000th property in Asia Pacific and marks the brand’s entry into the Australian city, showcasing a contemporary aesthetic, renowned service, and panoramic views above the city skyline.

The company anticipates adding 100 hotels – roughly two hotels per week – in Asia Pacific in 2023, expanding its footprint in key Asia Pacific markets including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, China, and India.

Marriott International signs agreement with Rua Al Madinah to open eight hotels in Saudi Arabia

Marriott International, Inc. announced it has signed an agreement with Rua Al Madinah Holding Company to open eight hotels in the Holy City of Madinah in Saudi Arabia. Located in close proximity to the Prophet’s Mosque, Al Masjid An Nabawi, the planned properties will be part of the Rua Al Madinah Project which aims to elevate the service and travel experience for visitors of Madinah. The anticipated openings will feature approximately 4,400 rooms across eight of the company’s brands – The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft Hotels, and Courtyard by Marriott.


“There is a strong demand for high-quality hotel accommodation in Madinah and we are delighted to work with Rua Al Madinah Holding Company to support the enhancement and diversification of the city’s hospitality landscape,” said Satya Anand, President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International. “This multi-deal agreement also strengthens our footprint in Saudi Arabia where we continue to see strong growth momentum in line with the Kingdom’s vision for its tourism sector.”

Marriott Vacations Worldwide reports fourth quarter and full 2022 results....

Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation has reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2022 this week which showed the company had record of over $1.8 billion of contract sales.  

John Geller, president & chief executive officer said:  "2022 was a great year for Marriott Vacations Worldwide. We generated over $1.8 billion of contract sales, a new high for our Company, and returned more than $800 million in cash to shareholders. We also launched Abound by Marriott Vacations, added over 20,000 new owners in our Vacation Ownership business and grew active Interval International members by 21%. Looking forward, we expect occupancies in North America and Europe to remain strong this year and for Asia-Pacific to continue to improve. We also expect to grow contract sales this year by 5% to 9% compared to the prior year and for Adjusted Free Cash Flow to be between $600 million and $670 million, illustrating the continued demand for leisure travel and the strength of our business model."

Fourth Quarter 2022 Highlights:

Consolidated Vacation Ownership contract sales were $454 million, a 12% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, and VPG was $4,088. The Company estimates that hurricanes negatively impacted contract sales by approximately $13 million in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Net income attributable to common shareholders was $88 million, or $2.08 fully diluted earnings per share.
Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was $115 million, or $2.74 Adjusted fully diluted earnings per share. The Company estimates that hurricanes negatively impacted Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders by $5 million, or $0.12 per Adjusted fully diluted earnings per share.
Adjusted EBITDA was $239 million; excluding the impact of the Alignment (as defined below), Adjusted EBITDA increased 6% compared to the prior year fourth quarter to $232 million. The Company estimates that hurricanes negatively impacted Adjusted EBITDA by approximately $7 million in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The Company repurchased 1.2 million shares of its common stock for $173 million during the quarter at an average price per share of $139.90.

Full Year 2022 Highlights and 2023 Outlook:

Consolidated Vacation Ownership contract sales were $1.84 billion, a 34% increase compared to 2021, and VPG increased 1% to $4,421. The Company estimates that hurricanes negatively impacted contract sales by approximately $14 million in 2022.
Net income attributable to common shareholders was $391 million, or $8.77 fully diluted earnings per share.
Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was $458 million, or $10.26 Adjusted fully diluted earnings per share.
Adjusted EBITDA was $966 million; excluding the impact of the Alignment (as defined below), Adjusted EBITDA was $915 million, an increase of 39% compared to the prior year. The Company estimates that hurricanes negatively impacted Adjusted EBITDA by approximately $8 million in 2022.
During 2022, the Company repurchased 5.1 million shares of its common stock for $701 million at an average price of $137.83 and paid $99 million in dividends.
The Company expects contract sales in 2023 to grow 5% to 9% compared to the prior year and for Net income attributable to common shareholders to be $405 million to $440 million, or $9.51 to $10.30 fully diluted earnings per share.
Excluding the impact of the Alignment (as defined below) in 2022, the Company expects Adjusted EBITDA to grow 4% to 9% in 2023 and Adjusted earnings per share - diluted to increase 14% to 23%.

MCR Acquires the Courtyard Dallas Grand Prairie

MCR – the 4th-largest hotel owner-operator in the U.S. – has acquired the Courtyard Dallas Grand Prairie, a four-story, select service hotel with 120 rooms in Grand Prairie, Texas. The hotel was purchased with acquisition financing from American Momentum Bank in place, at a rate of SOFR plus 260 basis points and a 65% loan to value.

Opened in 2021, the hotel is located 20 minutes south of the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport – the second busiest airport in the U.S. serving the country’s fastest-growing metropolitan area. The Dallas Fort Worth MSA is now home to almost eight million residents, representing an increase of 22 percent over the past decade. And it’s a market the MCR team knows well: this hotel is the company’s eighth hotel in Dallas and its 39th hotel in Texas.

Grand Prairie's attractions draw in almost 10 million visitors per year. The hotel is a short, 10-minute drive from the Arlington Entertainment District, where you’ll find something for everyone. Sports fans can catch a Dallas Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium or see the Texas Rangers play at the new Globe Life Field. Orlando World Center Marriott to Launch River Falls Water Park on March 16

River Falls Water Park will make a splashing debut for guests of all ages at Orlando World Center Marriott on March 16, 2022. The water park joins the newly renovated Falls Pool Oasis and offers three brand-new inner tube water slides and a 575-foot zero-entry lazy river.

The three new water slides will tower 50 feet in the air and accommodate one or two people per tube depending on the slide. Boomerago is a 425-foot long fast-paced slide that propels guests before boomeranging them into the air as gravity swings riders left and right toward the plunge pool. Aquasphere is a 498-foot long slide that starts with a slight dip that thrusts riders down the slide through twists, turns and closed spheres before dropping them down the twirling ride. Tailspin is the longest slide at 525 feet long and is perfect for thrill-seekers—with open tubes providing glimpses of daylight before funneling riders into a tailspin and dropping guests into the plunge pool.

For guests looking for something more relaxing, the winding lazy river is 575 feet long and 10 feet wide. The lazy river opens to a zero-entry pool for guests of all ages to easily access the river. For young children, an aqua playground includes bubbling nozzles and two vertical leaf spraying elements.

Hotel giant MCR buys the Lakeside Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle Sea-Tac Airport

MCR — the 4th-largest hotel owner-operator in the U.S. has purchased the newly built 170-suite Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle Sea-Tac Airport in Washington. The new property is just 10 minutes from the Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle South/Renton that MCR acquired in June of this year.

One of the fastest-growing airports, Sea-Tac ranks among the top 10 in the U.S., having welcomed more than 51 million passengers in 2019. And it’s getting bigger every day: The Port of Seattle, which owns and operates the airport, is investing more than $4 billion in 30 improvement projects by 2027.
