COMO Hotels opens the COMO Castello Del Nero, Tuscany

On March 21st 2019, COMO Hotels and Resorts opened the COMO Castello Del Nero, Tuscany - a magical, 740-acre historic estate in the world-famous Chianti wine region of Italy. This twelfth-century castle, with 50 rooms and suites, has been refurbished by world-renowned designer, Paola Navone. Paola's modern Italian style has given the hotel a contemporary breath of fresh air in the heart of the estate's ancient olive groves and vineyards.

The hotel is partly hidden among the rolling hills of Tuscany, it is within an easy driving distance of the cities of Florence and Siena. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from Florence or Siena and is around 30-minutes from Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola - Florence’s International airport, which makes it easily accessible from anywhere in Europe.

Temperatures in the area range from a minimum of 3°C in December and January to a maximum of 30°C in July and August, the warmest summer months.

Some of the main features and services on offer include a 25-metre outdoor heated swimming pool, a gym, 2 tennis courts, free yoga sessions on some days, car and Vespa rentals, laundry dry cleaning and pressing services, complimentary wi-fi, complimentary shoe-shine,  and even a heliport!

The rooms reflect an airy, pared-back aesthetic. Interiors are spacious and cool-toned, with 19 Estate Rooms, 13 Tavarnelle Rooms, 10 Tavarnelle Suites, and three Heritage Suites, many of which overlook the surrounding hills and lakes. The COMO Suite and COMO Terrace Suite offer the ultimate in Tuscan accommodation, with extensive living space, rare 18th-century frescoes, and panoramic views.

The hotel has a special opening offer, 'Experience COMO Castello Del Nero' is perhaps the perfect way to discover the hotel for the first time during the late spring and summer. This is the best period for sightseeing in the nearby Renaissance cities of Florence and Siena when Italy's gardens are at their best.

As part of the experience, you can enjoy dinner at our Michelin-starred La Torre restaurant - innovative menus using produce freshly picked from the estate's own kitchen-garden presided over by Chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro. Italy's long spa heritage is complemented by COMO Shambhala Retreat, the hotel's tranquil wellness sanctuary where you can also enjoy an indulgent COMO Shambhala Massage for two, as part of your stay.
