Singapore Airlines Goes Live with New Integrated Cargo Management System, Powered by IBS Software’s iCargo Platform

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has successfully gone live with its new Integrated Cargo Management System (ICMS), powered by IBS Software’s iCargo cargo management platform. The ICMS is a strategic initiative to future-proof SIA’s core cargo platform by eliminating disparate cargo systems and bringing in the latest cloud technology to transform cargo operations and customer delivery.

iCargo supports SIA in its cargo business processes. The ICMS provides a single integrated cargo application for business users in Singapore and overseas, as well as a seamless interface with partners including general sales agents, ground handling agents, and freight forwarders, simplifying the end-to-end operations. Enhanced data quality and insights also allow SIA to make real-time, data-driven decisions across its sales, operations, and finance processes, while ensuring compliance with international regulations.

Since the ICMS went live on 1 August 2022, approximately 1,500 users across sales, operations, and finance industries have benefited from the system, with iCargo enabling more than 24,000 flights, creating 202,000 bookings and 192,000 airway bills, as well as processing and responding to 8.5 million incoming messages.

IBS Software’s Consulting and Digital Transformation (CDx) business provided user acceptance testing (UAT) support to SIA. The UAT focused on business process transformation and change management efficiency, with inputs from more than 100 end users across the world, and end-to-end testing involving more than 20 upstream and downstream messaging systems.

Star Alliance members United Airlines and Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced this week an expansion to their codeshare agreement, making it easier for customers to travel to more cities in the United States of America, South East Asia and other destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.

Passengers can now enjoy codeshare flights to 19 new diverse and fast-growing cities ideal for both business and leisure travellers alike, tapping Singapore Airlines' and United Airlines' industry-leading networks.

Beginning April 26, 2022, United's customers will be able to connect to nine new codeshare destinations in the SIA Group network. Of these, seven points are in South East Asia. They may also connect to Perth in Australia, as well as Male in the Maldives with SIA.

SIA customers may connect on United's flights out of Los Angeles to 10 new codeshare destinations in the US. This complements the existing connections available on United's network from Houston to Atlanta, Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando and Tampa.

"United continues to provide critical links to Asia and we are the only US airline flying direct to Singapore from the US, with our nonstop San Francisco – Singapore flight," said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of International Network and Alliances at United. "The expansion of the codeshare arrangement will provide both SIA and United customers with a greater array of choices and connections, as well as seamless transfers for their business or leisure travel. This will also help to strengthen the deep and longstanding ties between Singapore and the US."

This announcement comes amid growing demand for international air travel as more countries around the world ease border restrictions. As travel resumes, customers can look forward to enjoying Singapore Airlines' and United Airlines' new codeshare flights, award-winning service, and the ability to redeem and earn points and miles while flying on both carriers.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the codeshare flights will be progressively made available for sale through the airlines' respective booking channels.

Singapore Airlines has finalised an order for seven Airbus A350F freighter aircraft.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has finalised a purchase agreement with Airbus for seven A350F freighter aircraft. The order was signed at the Singapore Airshow by SIA CEO Goh Choong Phong, and Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International Christian Scherer.

The order firms up the carrier's commitment to the new generation freighter announced by the planemaker in December 2021. The newly ordered aircraft will replace the carrier’s existing 747-400F fleet from the fourth quarter of 2025.

“This order underscores the importance of the cargo market to the SIA Group. The introduction of the A350F will enhance our capabilities in this key sector, ensuring that we are ready for the growth opportunities that will arise in the coming years. These new-generation aircraft will substantially increase our operating efficiencies and reduce our fuel burn, making an important contribution towards the success of our long-term decarbonisation goals,” said Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines.

“Singapore Airlines is the world's largest operator of the A350 and is now set to become the first to fly the all-new freighter variant,” said Christian Scherer. “The A350F will fit seamlessly into the carrier's existing fleet, while redefining the operational efficiency of its cargo operations, bringing a 40% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared with the aircraft it will replace at SIA, while offering the same payload-carrying capacity and longer range. Consumer patterns have changed dramatically in recent times, generating increased demand for the swift transport of cargo by air. With the A350F, SIA will be well-positioned to respond to this enormous market potential in a profitable and sustainable way.”

The A350F meets the imminent wave of large freighter replacements and the evolving environmental requirements, shaping the future of air freight. The A350F will be powered by the latest technology, fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.

The A350F is based on the world’s most modern long-range passenger family. With a 109- tonne payload capability, the A350F will serve all cargo markets. The aircraft features a large main deck cargo door, with its fuselage length and capacity optimised around the industry’s standard pallets and containers.

More than 70% of the airframe will be made of advanced materials, resulting in a 30tonne lighter take-off weight and generating at least 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions over its current closest competitor. The A350F will fully meet ICAO’s enhanced CO₂ emissions standards coming into effect in 2027.

Singapore Airlines is the world’s largest operator of the A350, with 58 currently in service.

Singapore Airlines selects the world’s newest freighter - the A350F

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Airbus for seven A350F freighter aircraft. The agreement will see the A350F begin replacing the airline's existing B747-400F fleet in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“We are honoured by Singapore Airlines’ vote of confidence in the A350F as it renews its freighter fleet. The A350F is the world’s all-new large freighter and will be unmatched in its market segment in terms of operational efficiency, lower fuel consumption and CO₂ savings,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International. “It is gratifying that Singapore Airlines recognises the value of the A350F as we build on the strong partnership we already enjoy.”

Earlier this year Airbus received Board of Directors approval for a freighter derivative of the A350 designed to meet the imminent wave of large freighter replacements and the evolving environmental requirements, shaping the future of airfreight. The A350F will be powered by latest technology, fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent-XWB97 engines.

As part of the world’s most modern long-range family, the A350F will have a high level of commonality with the A350 passenger versions. With a 109 tonne payload capability, the  A350F will serve all cargo markets. The aircraft features a large main deck cargo door, with its fuselage length and capacity optimised around the industry’s standard pallets and containers.

Over 70% of the airframe will be made of advanced materials, resulting in a 30 tonne lighter take-off weight and generating at least 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions over its current closest competitor. The A350F will fully meet ICAO’s enhanced CO₂ emissions standards coming into effect in 2027.

Singapore Airlines is the world’s largest operator of the A350, with 56 aircraft currently in service across its network. The agreement with Singapore Airlines is the third commitment received for the new A350F over the past month.

Singapore Airlines restarting flights from Manchester to Houston.

Singapore based Singapore Airlines has confirmed it will be starting flights from Manchester UK to Houston, Texas as of 01 December 2021.

The airline is deploying Airbus A350 aircraft on the route, featuring three cabins of great service and comfort.

Houston is a city of distinction. It’s the Energy Capital of the World, has the world’s largest medical centre, and famously put the first man on the moon. Now, America’s fourth-largest city is staking its claim as the most exciting metropolis in the country.

Long known for oil-baron opulence, mega highways and concrete sprawl, H-town is a city reborn. Now, it's a cultural and culinary powerhouse where its inhabitants – the most diverse in the nation – mingle in pedestrian-friendly areas brimming with greenery, forward-looking architecture, restored historic structures and innovative public art. For travellers, this could mean waking up to a free yoga class on Discovery Green, browsing world-class museums, unrolling a blanket on a hillside to catch a free (yes, free) evening opera performance, then unwinding with dinner and drinks at one of the country’s best bars. And you won’t even have scratched the surface.

So pack your bags, leave your preconceptions at home and see why Houston now claims the title of the coolest place in Texas – which is just another distinction that has been won by this incomparable city.

Singapore Airlines And Scoot Awarded Skytrax 5-Star Health And Safety Rating

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Scoot, the two passenger airlines within the SIA Group, have been awarded the highest 5-Star rating in the Skytrax Covid-19 Airline Safety Audit. Singapore Airlines celebrating 50 years of London service....Special fares from 50% off....

Singapore Airlines is celebrating 50 years of service from London Heathrow, the inaugural flight launched on 3rd June 1971, setting the bar high for sensation service and a unique style that is typical Singaporean.

Can you believe it was 50 years ago that Singapore Airlines began its long history with the United Kingdom when the first flight flew between London and Singapore under the Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) brand started? The three times weekly service was the carrier’s first European route and took just over 18 hours flying via Rome, Bahrain and Mumbai (then known as Bombay) on the airline’s two-class Boeing 707.

To celebrate the carriers 1971 launch from Heathrow to Singapore, Singapore Airlines has issued some very special fares - £1971 business class fare or reminisce the first jet Boeing 707 with £707 Premium Economy fare or simply enjoy our 50 years of service from London with a 50% discount on economy fares.  But hurry, these special fares to Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Phuket will only be available for a very short time.

Onboard the first flight passengers were well looked after, enjoying a total of four sumptuous meals. First Class customers could choose from three main courses including Roast Mignonettes of Lamb for dinner and Grilled Rainbow Trout for breakfast. As part of a lasting innovation, Economy Class passengers were also offered a choice of meals for the very first time.

Dining has continued to be a key element of the Singapore Airlines onboard experience. In 1998 the International Culinary Panel (ICP), composed of some of the world’s most renowned Michelin starred chefs were introduced, allowing passengers to enjoy carefully designed menus in the sky. Our global panel of Wine Experts curate a cellar of wines and champagnes so that once onboard, our Air Sommelier crew can ensure passengers enjoy the perfect accompaniment to their meal.
