The World’s First C919 commercial flight has taken place in China, making a major milestone for the development of the nation's first domestically-made passenger jet.
The Commercial Aviation Corporation of China (Comac) C919, flew its first commercial flight from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport on Sunday morning and landed less than two hours later in Beijing. The China Eastern Airlines aircraft had stickers showing the words “The World’s First C919.” and was carrying more than 130 people. According to local media, China Eastern will now deploy the jet on the Shanghai - Chengdu route.
China hopes the C919 will be a domestic and international replacement for Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo aircraft in years to come and COMAC is looking to produce 150 aircraft a year within the next five years.
