Virgin to drop Hong kong route....

After nearly three decades of service, Virgin Atlantic is dropping its once prestigious route from London to Hong Kong. In recent times the service had been badly hit by the restrictions imposed by authorities after the coronavirus pandemic and the closure of Russian airspace has also had a major impact on the viability of operations, adding more than an hour to flying times.

The airline is also said to be closing its offices in the Chinese city with the loss of 46 or so jobs. In a statement, the airline said "After careful consideration, we've taken the difficult decision to suspend our London Heathrow – Hong Kong services and close our Hong Kong office, after almost 30 years of proudly serving this Asian hub city,"

"Significant operational complexities due to the ongoing Russian airspace closure have contributed to the commercial decision not to resume flights in March 2023 as planned, which have already been paused since December 2021,"
