After successful completion of the application process, the up to 16 participants go through a theoretical and practical phase during the two-year training. In addition, the training includes the type rating, i.e. the sample training, in this case for the aircraft type Airbus A320.

The MPL professional pilot license to be acquired was introduced by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2006 and has been officially anchored by the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA) since 2009.
