United Airlines named as official airline for Pride in London 2022

United Airlines has been announced as the official airline for Pride in London 2022. The airline’s employees will participate in this year’s London Pride march on 2 July 2022 and are entering a lively, colourful float into the parade.

United has a proud history of supporting LGBTQ+ communities and has previously marched together in parades and attended festivals in the U.K. and around the world. In the U.K., United’s business resource group, EQUAL, honoured veteran campaigner, Peter Tatchell, by presenting an EQUAL award at London Heathrow in recognition of all the work he has undertaken over the decades to campaign for equal rights for LGBTQ+ communities and others.

“At United Airlines, we have a diverse group of employees around the world and believe in equality for everyone,” said Ziv Russell, United’s Chairman EQUAL EMEAI. “We are all proud to be supporting Pride in London this year and I know that all of our employees taking part will have an exciting day as together, we fly our United flag with pride.”

“Pride is founded on diversity, inclusivity and a welcoming spirit, and we’re extremely pleased to have United Airlines join us this year – marking the 50th anniversary of that first historic protest,” said Haven Thorn, Pride in London’s Head of PR. “After a much too long pause, we’re delighted to invite LGBT+ travellers from around the world to take part in our momentous Pride on 2 July, as it is expected to draw upwards of 1.5 million visitors to our capital city and is set to be one of the largest, most in-demand Pride events this summer.”

This summer, United is offering up to 22 daily flights from London Heathrow to the United States. The airline operates nonstop daily services to its hubs at Chicago O’Hare, New York/Newark, Washington/Dulles, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as its newly launched service to Boston.

United offers employees a work environment that is built on inclusion and respect, which empowers every employee to contribute to the airline’s success. The airline is committed to creating and implementing workplace policies that support LGBTQ+ coworkers. As a result, United has earned a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and has been named Best Place to Work for a number of consecutive years. United has also been named a Top Company for LGBT Equality by Work Life Matters magazine in the U.S.
