Azores and Binter enjoy the fruits of codeshare deal and over 1000 passengers sign up to carbon off setting...

Both Azores Airlines and Binter are enjoying the fruits of a special codeshare arrangement in operation between the two carriers.  Flights between the Azores and the Canary Islands, operated by Binter, are available on the SATA Azores Airlines website and on all sales channels of the SATA group. This means that travellers looking for connections available on the SATA Azores Airlines website will also have access to Binter's flights. Equally, the offer of the airlines SATA Air Aรงores and Azores Airlines can be found on the Binter website.

The connections between the Azores and the Canary islands start July, 2 until September 24, with a weekly flight, operated on Saturdays. The direct connection will open up other opportunities for travellers who want to get to know other islands, thanks to the network of inter-island flights that both SATA Air Aรงores and Binter operate.

Connections between Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and Ponta Delgada (Sรฃo Miguel) depart from Las Palmas at 8:30 am and arrive in Ponta Delgada at 9:50 am, local time. The return to Las Palmas is less than an hour later, departing Ponta Delgada at 10:30 am and arriving in Las Palmas at 1:40 pm, local time. This flight schedule allows you to connect SATA Air Aรงores network and also provides a connection to Azores Airlines flights, to or from the cities of Boston, New York and Toronto.

Arriving in the Canary Islands, passengers will have the possibility of connecting to the airports of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife North and Tenerife South on the outbound flight, and on the return flight, with La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.

Flights will be operated with an Embraer E195-E2, with a capacity for 132 passengers. The flight will last approximately two hours and ten minutes.

In other news, a milestone has taken place in recent weeks for the Carbon Offset Programme recently launched by SATA Azores Airlines. Thus far, over 1,000 passengers have taken up the offer of partaking in the programme. This achievement was only possible thanks to our passengers who are sensitive to their emissions and took advantage of the Programme made available by the airline in association with IATA. Their solidarity will support the development of worldwide sustainable projects." the airline said.

SATA Azores Airlines launched its Voluntary Passenger Carbon Offset Programme (based on the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Carbon Offset Program) last March 24, on the International Day of Forests. It allows passengers to offset carbon emissions produced during their flights, when booking, passengers have the chance to support ongoing sustainable projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in different regions across the planet.

Passengers who have already donated to SATA Azores Airlines Carbon Offset Program are contributing to the "Ecofiltro Guatemala Improved Stoves and Water Purification" project. This project improves the health conditions of rural families in Guatemala by providing high-quality stoves to replace the traditional and inefficient fires used for cooking. The project is also contributing to offer high-quality water purification equipment (eco-filters) to increase potable water access.

Azores Airlines
The airline has just started a seasonal service to Barcelona, which will run until September. SATA Azores Airlines will link Ponta Delgada with the cosmopolitan Spanish city on Wednesdays and Fridays with an Airbus 321 aircraft, seating 186 passengers. The forecast for 2023 is to offer an extra flight on Sundays, subject to demand.

Thanks to its location in the Atlantic Ocean, Ponta Delgada is also an excellent stopover option between Barcelona and some American cities, such as New York or Boston, where the airline also operates.
