In connection with Sweden outdoor festival at Billingen on May 21-22, the final of the Swedish Championships will be decided in outdoor storytelling. In 2021, several competitions were held in beautiful locations around the country. Now the six finalists come to Billingen to fight for the coveted championship title.
The final of the Swedish Championships in outdoor cooking, like the competitions, is about preparing a three-course menu over an open fire at Muurikka and with the help of Trangiakök. For 2.5 hours, the competing teams compose and prepare their menu and get to choose freely based on a raw material list with seasonally adapted ingredients from local food producers.
Here you can get meal experiences with strong roots in local flavours and smells. How about a temporary pop-up restaurant where you get a unique self-composed 2-course menu prepared by Carolina Hjerpe? The raw materials have clear links to the forest and farm. Per Govertzon at Högbrons Såg has manufactured the tables in the temporary restaurant and welcomes you on site. Please note that there are a limited number of places and you must pre-book this.
"For me, sm in outdoor cooking is about nature- and food-interested people meeting in interesting places at the competitions around Sweden. During the final in Skövde, the finalists bring raw materials from the different competitions, it will be an interesting meeting between places and raw materials, says Sven-Erik Larsson, project manager SM in outdoor cooking.
Would you like to try cooking outdoors? Welcome to the festival on Saturday when you can try cooking over an open fire just like the professional chefs. On-site, your team gets raw materials from local producers, tips and easier supervision by Sven-Erik Larsson, who is the competition leader in the Swedish Championships in outdoor cooking. Each party has about 1 hour to prepare their dish. There are a limited number of places and you pre-book your place during the fair.
