airBaltic has carried 161,100 passengers in March - up 452%


The Latvian state airline airBaltic carried an impressive 161,100 passengers during March this year, almost five times more than during the same period last year. The airline operated 2380 flights during the month up 261% from 660 flights in March 2021. 

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “Summer season is officially here, which means that we are both flying more and the load factor also increases. This summer we will fly on more than 90 routes. Aviation industry and the world as a whole has faced many challenges over the last two years, but we continue our path to recovery.”

During March 2022, the 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic reached a level of 92.8%. This means that more than 92 out of every 100 airBaltic flights departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.

Recently the airline has decided to reduce customer comfort on its fleet of Airbus A220 planes by increasing the capacity to 149 passengers, up from 145.   Gauss said: “In late February we received our first airBaltic Airbus A220-300 aircraft which is certified to operate up to 149 seats. Until now we could use 145 seats on the aircraft, however, going forward also existing fleet will be adjusted to use the additional capacity, which will further drive efficiency of our operations.”
