Manitoba is bordered by Saskatchewan to the west, Ontario to the east, Nunavut Territory to the north, and the US states of North Dakota and Minnesota to the south. Located 65 miles north of the US border, Winnipeg is easily accessible by rail, road and air. Churchill is located 1,000 km north of Winnipeg, along the Hudson Bay. There are no roads to Churchill; this remote northern town is only accessible by a 2.5 hr plane ride from Winnipeg or a 48 hr train ride from Winnipeg. Churchill is approximately 150 km from the Nunavut border - 80 miles.
