More new routes for Air Astana - the flagship of Kazakhstani aviation.

Air Astana is the national air carrier and the flagship of Kazakhstani aviation and is further cementing its place at the top of aviation in the region with a number of new routes and services. Adding to the growing list of destinations for the carrier are Amsterdam, Samarkand and Podgorica.



Hello Amsterdam

From 3rd June the impressive carrier will resume direct flights from Atyrau in western Kazakhstan to Amsterdam. Scheduled to operate once a week on a Thursday.

The resumed service will operate once a week on a Thursday, Air Astana will deploy an Airbus A321 aircraft on the route.  The aircraft 175+ seat aircraft will depart Atyrau at 05:40 with the arrival time in Amsterdam set to be 07:50 local. The return is scheduled to leave Amsterdam at 11:50, with an expected arrival time of 19:40 in Atyrau. 

This service between Atyrau and Amsterdam supplements the existing flight on Wednesdays between Atyrau to Frankfurt, allowing Air Astana passengers the possibility of connecting with partner airlines to routes across Europe and North America.

Sensational Samarkand

On 9th June 2021, Air Astana will launch a direct service from Almaty to the ancient city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Samarkand will become Air Astana’s second destination in Uzbekistan, with direct flights to Tashkent, the country’s capital, having been operated since 2010. The new Samarkand service will be flown on Airbus A321 aircraft on Wednesdays and Sundays.

On Wednesdays, the flight will depart from Almaty at 15.40 and arrive in Samarkand at 16.15, with the return flight departing at 17.45 and arriving in Almaty at 20.20. On Sundays, the flight will depart from Almaty at 11.20 and arrive in Samarkand at 11.55, with the return flight departing at 13.25 and arriving in Almaty at 16.00. 

Montenegro calling 

The airline will also start another two new routes on 9th June,  this time the carrier will be heading to Montenegro from Kazakhstan.  The flights to Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital will be operated by the airline's new Airbus A321LR aircraft. Flights departing  Nur-Sultan will fly on Wednesdays and Saturdays and flights from Almaty on Thursdays and Sundays.  
 
Flights from Nur-Sultan are scheduled to depart at 09:00 and arrive in Podgorica at 10:55, with return from Podgorica at 12:00 and arrival in Nur-Sultan at 21:20. Flights from Almaty will depart at 07:30 and arrive in Podgorica at 10:25, with return from Podgorica at 11:30 and arrival in Almaty at 21:25.  All times local.

The Airbus A321neo LR is a long-range version of A321neo, with increased maximum take-off weight and associated design modifications. The aircraft is configured with 16 Business class seats and 150 Economy class seats.

The specification of the Business Class flatbeds, Economy Class slim seats and other cabin amenities will ensure that passengers experience the very highest standards of comfort and service. 

History

Air Astana first took to the skies on the 15th May 2002 with President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Sir Richard Evans, representing the two shareholders, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems PLC of the UK, looking on proudly.  

These shareholders remain committed partners in the airline, with the Government holding a 51 percent share through its Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, and BAE Systems PLC holding 49 percent.

Fleet

The Air Astana fleet consists of Boeing 767, Airbus A320, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321, Airbus A321neo, A321neo LR, and Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. Air Astana currently operates a total of 34 aircraft and has plans to increase its fleet size to a total of 43 aircraft by the end of 2021.
