The Maltese Bureau of Air Accident Investigation is currently investigating how a Ryanair Boeing 737 became unhitched from a towing arm and rolled forward into a fuel truck late on Friday morning.
The jet, registration 9H-QCJ was being towed to a new parking area and was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident.
The airport’s fire service was immediately dispatched to the area as some fuel or oil had been released at the crash site and the airport was closed for nearly an hour causing two flights to be diverted.
