New flights set to take off between Gold Coast and Hobart

Gold Coast to Hobart flights resume from 1 December

Jetstar has announced it will launch new flights between the Gold Coast and Hobart in December, providing the only direct link between one of Queensland’s most popular holiday destinations and Tasmania.

The announcement follows confirmation that Tasmania’s borders will be open to most states from 26 October.

From 1 December, Jetstar will operate three return services a week with an Airbus A320, providing more than 1,200 seats between the two cities each week.

The new flights will be available at jetstar.com from 11 am (AEDT) today, with a 24-hour flash sale starting from noon (AEDT).

Comments from Jetstar Group CEO, Gareth Evans

“We’re excited to launch this service with support from the Queensland government and the Gold Coast Airport.

“It’s great help to be able to reconnect family and friends and give more people the opportunity for a holiday after what has been tough period for many.

“This new service will also help to boost tourism in the Gold Coast and Hobart, creating jobs and supporting the local economy, and means more of our people are back at work, which is great news too.

More flights for Tasmania

Jetstar will also increase frequencies on its existing Tasmanian routes, including five weekly services between Hobart and Adelaide; seven between Hobart and Brisbane; and six between Launceston and Brisbane.

Once restrictions are lifted on travel to NSW, Jetstar plan to operate up to 21 weekly services between Hobart and Sydney from November and Qantas will reintroduce services between Sydney and Hobart with daily flights, beginning as early as 30 October (subject to Tasmanian government decisions).
