Delta's ceo sends a message on flexibility and care....

Delta Air Line's CEO Ed Bastian, no stranger to the limelight,  who will, we're told run for political office when he leaves Delta, has sent another message to the U.S. mega-carriers customers, this time regarding care and flexibility.

As you plan future trips, I want you to feel safe, comfortable and at ease knowing that your care, health and safety are Delta’s highest priority throughout every step of your journey. When you fly with Delta, you can expect:

Flexibility with no change fees

When planning travel, you want to easily book, change or cancel your plans with peace of mind. That’s why we’ve extended our change fee waiver for all tickets purchased through the end of the year. Beyond 2020, we’ve eliminated change fees permanently for tickets purchased for travel within the U.S., with the exception of Basic Economy. Know that we’re always evaluating our policies to deliver the flexibility and superior experience you expect.

An elevated standard of care

From the moment you arrive at the airport to when you reach your destination, you want to know every detail has been considered. To hear about all the ways Delta employees are keeping your surfaces clean, giving you more space and offering safer service, please take a look at this video.

A focus on cleanliness when passing through security

You can rest assured that your belongings will be cleaner and safer than ever before as they pass through security at select Delta hub airports in new antimicrobial bins that prevent the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. In partnership with the Transportation Security Administration, Delta is rolling out bins at automated screening lanes in Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles, New York-LaGuardia and New York-JFK starting this week and will continue to evaluate opportunities for expansion to other airports.

Clean air on board and on the ground

Keeping the air you breathe clean during your travels is a foundation of the many layers of protection we provide. That’s why all aircraft are ventilated as often as every two minutes with fresh, outside air, as well as air that is recirculated through industrial-grade HEPA filters. These filters extract more than 99.99 percent of particles, including viruses, and we replace the filters twice as often as recommended.

recent study conducted in partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology measured the number and concentration of fine particles in the air across a variety of locations in July 2020, including on board Delta aircraft at altitude and in other indoor spaces; the data showed that the air in flight is many times cleaner than the air sampled in other indoor locations, like restaurants, homes and grocery stores.

On the ground, you can also breathe easy with systems in place to filter and pump outside air into our jetbridges and parked aircraft during boarding and deplaning. By mid-September, more than 600 gates at 31 airports will get upgraded systems, replacing current filters with LEED Platinum MERV14 filters that will result in a more than 40-point reduction in air particles and cleaner air in those spaces.

With the holiday travel season quickly approaching, know that Delta continues to lead the industry in blocking the selection of middle seats and limiting the number of customers per flight through at least Jan. 6, 2021. We’ve put more than 100 measures in place to ensure a safe experience for you and our employees, so you can feel confident when you’re ready to fly.

Sincerely,

Ed Bastian, CEO
