United Airlines pilots arrested at Glasgow after failing breath tests.

Two airline pilots have been arrested at Glasgow International Airport in Scotland after they both allegedly failed alcohol breath tests just before they were supposed to be taking control of an aircraft scheduled to operate a flight to Newark, New Jersey.

Police Scotland confirmed that its officers had been called to the airport at 07:35 this morning and two men, aged 45 and 61 were arrested. A spokesperson for the Police also confirmed that the two had been kept in police custody pending a scheduled court appearance this coming Tuesday, 6th August.

At present, it is unclear what charges the pilots will face, although if convicted their respective careers with United will be over. 


United Airlines issued a statement which advised that safety of customers and crew was "always our top priority" which doesn't seem the case in this instance, the statement went continue, "We hold all of our employees to the highest standards and have a strict, no-tolerance policy for alcohol.

These pilots were immediately removed from service and we are fully cooperating with local authorities. At this time, we are working to get our customers back on their journey as soon as possible."
