ANA gets its second A380

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline received the second of three Airbus A380 FLYING HONU on May 15th, 2019.

While offering the same high standard of performance, comfort and safety as ANA's other A380 which the airline received in March, this second FLYING HONU plane also has a unique livery. Inspired by the crystal-clear water of the ocean surrounding Hawaii, the green livery depicts the face of a Hawaiian Honu (turtle) with a welcoming smile.

"We are excited to welcome the second A380 into our world-class fleet of aircraft," said Yutaka Ito, Executive Vice President of ANA. "With its visually distinct livery that evokes the folklore and traditions of Hawaii, and the outstanding features of the A380, the beautiful Emerald Green FLYING HONU lives up to the ANA standard of excellence. We are ready to welcome the plane to Narita Airport so that we can begin operations."

Starting from May 24th, FLYING HONU will begin serving three roundtrips per week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday departure from Tokyo Narita to Honolulu. From July 1, the Honolulu route frequency increases to ten roundtrips per week serviced by the FLYING HONU.

HYPER JAPAN Festival 2019

Perhaps the greatest taste of Japan will be at the Hyper Japan Festival between the 12th and 14th July at Olympia London, Hammersmith Road, Kensington, London.  This wonderful exhibition of all things Japanese, from food, drink, entertainment, culture, tradition and a whole lot more.

This year's festival will feature a rich selection of food and drink for those in search of authentic Japanese taste sensations. For the first time at HYPER JAPAN, the food and drink area will be gathered under one umbrella called the “EAT-JAPAN Show” and will be located in the Olympia West on the upper level! Expect a varied selection of stalls offering hot and cold foods.

Part of The Eat-Japan show is the Sake Experience, which, other than being Jason Shaw's favourite attraction of the show, is one of Europe’s biggest public tasting events for sake!  You can try, learn, buy, and vote as you enjoy Japan’s most traditional tipple! This year’s event features 9 breweries, who brought with them 26 different sakes and fruit-based liqueurs. Takara Kyo Yuzu is just one of those offerings,  which is a delightful little liqueur is made using yuzu citrus grown in Kyoto.  A fine balance of sweet and tangy makes this a very refreshing beverage and jolly nice with a slice of cheesecake, or rice flavour ice cream.

Japanese culture vultures will love the traditional diverse artisans, practitioners and stallholders that give visitors a glimpse into these long-established traditions and cutting-edge innovations, whilst also introducing exciting products and performances which utilise the best of both.

With the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the 2020 Olympic Games the year after, Japan is a hot destination! At HYPER JAPAN they've gathered together a strong group of travel agencies, government tourism bureaus, and tourism service providers to help you on your way!

The festival is on:

Saturday 13th July: 9:00 – 14:45, 15:30 – 21:00
