.KLM cancels a massive 159 flights at Amsterdam's Schiphol ahead of expected storm

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has confirmed it will be axing at least 159 flights from its home base of Amsterdam Schiphol airport tomorrow, Tuesday, January 8th, citing runway restrictions at the airport due to a forecast storm.

The airline says that "Owing to the storm predicted for tomorrow,  runway capacity is expected to be highly restricted at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Only one runway will be in use. KLM has therefore decided to cancel 159 European roundtrips scheduled for Tuesday. The passengers in question have been informed and rebooked."

Among the flights cancelled are 6 flights to London Heathrow, 6 flights to London City, 3 flights to Bristol, 2 flights to Birmingham, 2 flights to Cardiff, 1 flight to Glasgow, 1 flight to Edinburgh, 1 flight to Southampton, 1 flight to Norwich, and 1 flight to Dublin.
