Hong Kong Airlines could be operating a direct flight to San Francisco as early as 25th March next year. The news comes from airlineroute.net which says the airline has issued papers to the authorities to start the route. Which is successful would be operated by one of the airlines brand new Airbus A350 aircraft.
The potential San Francisco service would start with four times a week schedule and then, loads and demand permitting would go daily from August next year. The provisional times for the service would be a 1220 departure from Hong Kong, arriving in San Francisco at 1015 that morning. The return flight has a San Francisco take off time of 1200, landing back in Hong Kong at 1725 the following morning.
These plans would tie in nicely to a codeshare deal the airline has made with WestJet as well as with its other North American routes, to Vancouver and the Los Angeles service due to start in December.
