More direct flights between Tokyo and Las Vegas for CES2020

American Airlines and Pacific Joint Business partner Japan Airlines (JAL) for the second year are adding direct flights between Tokyo (NRT) and Las Vegas (LAS) to support the high demand for CES® 2020. American is also adding nonstop flights from Austin, Texas (AUS), and San Jose, California (SJC), and upgauging existing flights from Philadelphia (PHL) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to LAS surrounding the main event, which runs Jan. 4–12.

Tokyo demand

"As CES continues to grow each year, we will continue to deliver on our promise to strengthen the value of our global network," said Vasu Raja, American's Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.

This will be the second year that American is providing direct access to LAS from NRT in support of CES. The flight will be operated on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, featuring 36 fully lie-flat, all-aisle access Flagship Business seats that provide customers access to The Club at LAS to freshen up upon arrival or relax before departing.

Flight times between NRT and LAS will provide a seamless connection onto JAL's network to and from Southeast Asia, including Singapore; Bangkok; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Manila, Philippines.

Emirates to launch services to Mexico City via Barcelona


The Dubai based mega-carrier, Emirates has confirmed this week that it will launch a new daily service from Dubai (DXB) to Mexico City International Airport (MEX), via the Spanish city of Barcelona (BCN), starting on 9 December 2019.

Emirates’ Mexico City flight will be a linked service with Barcelona, meaning that customers can now travel between the two cities in unprecedented style and comfort.  Citizens from Mexico, Spain and the UAE only need their passports to enjoy visa-free travel to each respective country.  

The new route brings daily flight services between Spain and Mexico to cater to underserved demand


The new route will be operated with a two-class Emirates Boeing 777-200LR which offers 38 Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 264 seats in Economy Class. The new 777 flight will also offer up to 14 tonnes of cargo, opening up access to more global markets for Mexican exports such as avocados, berries, mangoes, automotive parts and medical supplies.  Emirates SkyCargo has been flying freighters to/from Mexico City since 2014 already and in the last year carried over 22,500 tons of cargo on the route.

Harlow MP Robert Halfon (pictured Left)  has praised a ground-breaking initiative by London Stansted and Harlow College that aims to boost skills and training amongst the 12,000 people who work at the airport.

Staff working for the 200 on site airport companies are being given the opportunity to gain accredited qualifications run by Harlow College in over 30 subjects, including mental health awareness, customer service, counselling skills and dementia care.

Follows the success of free Maths and English courses that were 

rolled out to staff last year

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust Completes Sale of Hotel Amarano Burbank

Hotel news and The Pebblebrook Hotel Trust has confirmed this week that it has closed the sale of the 132-room Hotel Amarano Burbank in Los Angeles, California for a cool $72.9 million.

The sale price of $72.9 million reflects a 15.8x EBITDA multiple and a 5.7% net operating income capitalization rate (after an assumed annual capital reserve of 4.0% of total hotel revenues) based on the hotel’s operating performance for 2018. Based on the trailing 12-month period ended March 2019, the contracted sales price reflects a 16.9x EBITDA multiple and a 5.3% net operating income capitalization rate (after an assumed annual capital reserve of 4.0% of total hotel revenues). Both the EBITDA multiples and net operating income capitalization rates are adjusted for the estimated annualized impact of real estate taxes for California’s Proposition 13.

American Airlines Named Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion

 The Disability Equality Index (DEI) named American Airlines among its Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion with a top score of 100 for the fourth year in a row. The index, a joint initiative of Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), used several disability inclusion metrics in evaluating policies and practices.

Zeal Global Group to lead Rossiya Airlines' cargo operations to Goa

 Zeal Global Group has announced its appointment by the Russian Airlines as its exclusive General Sales Agent (GSA) in Goa, as part of the joint collaboration between Zeal Global and Taprobane Aviation. This agreement will further translate into additional capacity of Cargo from India to Russia, particularly for the pharmaceuticals and industrial companies operating from Goa, which can start direct shipments to Russia.

According to the partnership, Zeal Global will be responsible for handling and managing cargo while capitalizing on the surge in Russian trade in the region and solidifying the presence of the airline through its offices in New Delhi and a commercial network extending throughout the country. The prominent categories and the nature of consignments agreed as per the partnership includes all types of general cargo and perishable cargo, namely, pharmaceuticals, spare parts, electrical items, garments, fabrics, fruits and veg etc.

JetBlue heads to the Guadeloupe Islands starting February 1, 2020 from New York, JFK

The Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board is thrilled to announce that JetBlue will be expanding their portfolio by adding a new nonstop seasonal service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Guadeloupe's Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP). Roundtrip flights will operate three times per week on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays starting February 1, 2020, through the end of April. Flights will then resume in November 2020.

Delta listed among ‘Top 50 Workplaces’ by Indeed.com for a 2nd year

For the second straight year, thousands of positive employee comments like the above have resulted in Delta being named among Indeed.com's 50 top-rated workplaces. Delta took the No. 7 spot on the list in 2019 after coming in at No. 4 in 2018.
