More new routes from Turkish Airlines

One of the fastest-growing airlines in recent times, Turkish, has recently confirmed a raft of new services launching later this summer as it moves rapidly forward with its expansion programme.

The carrier is introducing a number of flights Europe from Antalya as well as a service from its new home base in Istanbul to Xi’an.

Turkish Airlines has added Xi’an, the Chinese city with three thousand years of history, to its flight network this week. Xi’an has become the flag carrier’s fourth destination in Mainland China and the 318th destination in the world. These new flights will be operated three times a week with Airbus A330 aircraft.
Starting its flights to the People's Republic of China back in 1999 with Beijing as its destination, Turkish Airlines reinforced its strong position in Asia with the Xi’an flights. With this new addition, global carrier’s flight network encompassed the entirety of the historical Silk Road that started in Xi’an and ended in Venice.

Turkish Airlines is reported to have agreed on a deal with US plane manufacturer Boeing over compensation for losses accrued over the ground of the airlines 737 Max fleet, said to be as much as US$225 million 

Turkish Airlines has 24 Boeing 737 Max aircraft which have been grounded since the two fatal crashes took the lives of over 340 people.  Earlier in December, it was reported that the carrier had started legal proceedings against Boeing for compensation over the losses.  Today, the airline released a brief note to investors that it had reached an agreement with Boeing - "Turkish Airlines and Boeing came to an agreement concerning compensation for certain losses caused by the grounded and undelivered Boeing 737 Max aircraft."   

The true amount of compensation that has been agreed upon has not been disclosed at this stage, however, local news outlet, Hurriyet has reported the deal is for approximately $225 million. This is made up of  $150 million in compensation and a further $75 million to cover incidental items such as spare parts and crew training.

Turkish and Malaysia Airlines form codeshare deal

Malaysia Airlines and Turkish Airlines have agreed on a codeshare deal to allow each carrier an expanded route network and seamless interlining for passengers over each other's routes. The partnership will see Turkish Airlines offering new destinations in Malaysia and Australia as a codeshare carrier on Malaysia Airlines operated flights, while Malaysia Airlines will be able to reach a number of destinations in Turkey and beyond.

"This codeshare will also allow our passengers to travel to major cities in Turkey, providing them with even more access for their travels." Said Malaysia Airlines CEO Captain Izham Ismail, "This opens up the opportunity for more tourists to explore Malaysia, as one of the premier holiday destinations in the Asia Pacific region, and we look forward to extending our Malaysian Hospitality further with all who travel with us,” he added.

Turkish Airlines and United Nations Alliance of Civilisations created a joint platform.


The “Sport for Peace Awards” project is expected to have extensive global impact.


Reaching to more countries and international destinations than any other airline in line with its goal to fly every corner of the world, Turkish Airlines carries its active stance in the development of its flight network to collaborating with prominent global brands, organizations and NGOs to reach different societies and communities around the world.

Today, the national flag carrier took another step in this direction as it put its signature to an important collaboration with United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the leading United Nations platform for intercultural dialogue and cooperation. The signing ceremony of this significant step, “Sport for Peace Awards” project, took place on 24 September 2019, at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, in the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, and António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General. During the ceremony, the agreement was signed by Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, M. İlker Aycı, and United Nations Alliance of Civilizations High Representative, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, along with the attendance of officials from both sides.

Turkish Airlines will fly directly to Vietnam’s Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and introduced a new in-flight app

Boasting the world’s widest international flight network with 315 international destinations in 126 countries, Turkish Airlines has started direct flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which were operated as connected flights until now. The flights will be operated on Istanbul (IST) – Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) – Istanbul (IST) and Istanbul (IST) – Hanoi (HAN) – Istanbul (IST) routes.

Deciding to operate direct flights with the expectations of the passengers travelling to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in mind, Turkish Airlines will have daily flights to Ho Chi Minh and the flag carrier will fly to Hanoi six days a week (except Sunday). The flights to capital Hanoi will increase to seven days a week in April 2020.

Turkish Airlines has released its latest figures which demonstrate that the Turkish flag carrier recorded 84.8% load factor in August, despite the global shrinkage of demand in the aviation sector. Offering connections to more countries than any other airline from a single hub, global carrier’s international-to-international transfer passenger numbers increased in record numbers with a 9.4 percent increase compared to the same month of the last year.

Continuing towards its goal of becoming one of the top five air cargo brands in the world with its Turkish Cargo brand, flag carrier increased its cargo / mail volume by 11.5 percent compared to the same month of the last year. National flag carrier maintains its two digit growth numbers at air cargo market in its new home as well.

Turkish Airlines and Kuwait Airways start codeshare deal.

The inauguration of codeshare flights between Kuwait and Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen Airports. 

Turkish Airlines and Kuwait Airways announced a new strategic partnership, which will see Kuwait national carrier’s code added to Turkish Airlines flights, and Turkey’s national carrier’s code added to Kuwait Airways flights operated between Kuwait and Istanbul/Sabiha Gokcen Airports, this week. The Bilateral Codeshare Partnership will commence from 01st August 2019.

Both Airlines have enjoyed a cordial commercial relationship since 1991, and since then both airlines have been reaping the rewards of such partnership. Turkish Airlines and Kuwait Airways’ cooperation further strengthened by signing renewed ‘Special Prorate Agreement’ in May 2019, and this codeshare agreement is now expected to take the partnership of two national flag carriers to a new height, and provide a great opportunity for the passengers from Kuwait and Turkey.

Turkish Airlines added Strasbourg to the list of its destinations in France

The National flag carrier of Turkey has added Strasbourg again to its flight network that covers 124 countries of the world.

Turkish Airlines, flying to more countries than any other airline in the world, has launched direct flights again to Strasbourg, starting from May 31st, 2019, as four weekly flights between Istanbul Airport and Strasbourg Entzheim Airport.

Turkish Airlines added Sharjah, its third destination in the UAE, to its flight network.

Turkish Airlines is consistently trying to enhance its flight network and the firm introduced another new route this week. The Turkish national flag carrier has now started scheduled flights to Sharjah, one of the favourite tourism centres of United Arab Emirates. Sharjah became the 307th destination that added to the extensive flight network of the global brand.

As Turkish Airlines’ third flight destination in the UAE after Abu Dhabi and Dubai, flights to Sharjah will be conducted on the Istanbul-Sharjah-Istanbul route.

AnadoluJet expands its international flight network with Erbil.

AnadoluJet, the successful subsidiary of Turkish Airlines has confirmed it will be adding a new international destination to its growing flight network with the upcoming flights to Erbil (Iraq) after its previous flights to TRNC -Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

AnadoluJet offers its advantageous prices to the passengers flying from Gaziantep and/or Diyarbakır to Erbil. The flights from both of these two cities will start on March 21, 2019.

On the new Erbil flights of AnadoluJet, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee M. İlker Aycı stated; “Turkish aviation history is undergoing a significant period of change. Istanbul Airport gives courage to Turkish Airlines and its sub-brands to make strides towards their goals. I am quite happy to see that AnadoluJet, our successful sub-brand, aims further than its borders by adding Erbil to its flight network following TRNC -Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”

Beginning on March 21, 2019, AnadoluJet’s Gaziantep – Erbil – Gaziantep and Diyarbakır – Erbil – Diyarbakır reciprocal flights will be conducted three days in a week and tickets are being offered for the special price of $99 for the launch period.

More than 75 million people flew with Turkish Airlines last year

One of the globes fast-growing international air carriers, Turkish Airlines, has released its figures both for December 2018 and the whole year, which revealed the airline flew more than 75 million people during 2018.

For December 2018 the carrier reached an impressive 80.2% load factor and the total number of people that flew with them was 5.5million, up 1% on December 2017's total.  Growth in the number of passengers, revenue per kilometre and load factor, is an important indicator of the continued growth the airline has experienced in recent times, it is also a clear indicator that Turkish Airlines is becoming a truly global carrier.

Marrakesh to become a new destination for Turkish Airlines

The national flag carrier of Turkey, Turkish Airlines can date its history to as far back as 1933 when it had just five aircraft. Today the carrier has a fleet of 332 aircraft, although some of those are cargo variants, and is among the top airlines of the world. 

The carrier has confirmed that from March 27th this year it will operate a service from its home base of Istanbul to the beautiful and historic Moroccan city of Marrakesh.  The service will operate five times a week and are scheduled for a departure around 11.30, arriving Marrakesh at 14.30 local time.  The flight back departs around 15.15 landing in Turkey at around 22.05.  The airline plans to operate these flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. 

The new Morocco services are just the latest in a raft of new routes to come from the carrier as part of its global expansion programme that will see it have more than 500 aircraft by the end of 2023.

Turkish Airlines to start flights to Mexico City and Cancun

Turkish Airlines will be launching a service from its mega hub home base of Istanbul to Mexico City and onwards to Cancun in the summer.

The airline says it will start the route on August 21st this year and will operate three times a week and will leave Istanbul in the evening, flying to Mexico City early morning and then after an hour and twenty minutes or so on the ground will fly onwards to Cancun. The return flight will operate directly to Istanbul from Cancun and depart early morning arriving the next day.

Turkish Airlines and IndiGo to leverage their respective networks to maximize travel opportunities for the travelling public. 

A member of Star Alliance, Istanbul-based Turkish Airlines, and India’s largest domestic carrier, IndiGo announced recently a codeshare and mutual cooperation agreement. The signed codeshare and mutual cooperation agreement between the two carriers, the effectiveness of which is subject to receipt by Turkish Airlines and IndiGo of all necessary Board and regulatory approvals, will enable both carriers to provide more flexibility of choice to their respective customers to fly on sectors between India, Istanbul and beyond.

This is the first codeshare agreement for IndiGo as part of its international expansion strategy. Through this cooperation, Turkish Airlines will be offering new destinations in India as Marketing Carrier on IndiGo operated flights, while IndiGo customers will be able to reach many European destinations through Turkish Airlines’ extensive network. This reciprocal arrangement will allow TK and 6E to provide seamless connections to their customers, besides enabling them to use through check-in and many other facilities. IndiGo will place its code “6E”on 20 points beyond Istanbul operated by Turkish Airlines. Similarly, Turkish Airlines will use its code “TK” on IndiGo operated flights within India.

Aviation Capital Group Announces Mandate to Finance Two Boeing 787-9 Aircraft for Turkish Airlines

 

Aviation Capital Group, a leading aircraft operating lessor, announced this week that it has been mandated by Turkish Airlines to structure, arrange, and provide a guarantee for senior loans to finance a portion of the purchase price of two Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The aircraft are expected to deliver to the carrier in July 2019.

The Turkish Airlines financing mandate was awarded to ACG in connection with ACG’s Aircraft Financing Solutions (“AFS”) program. The AFS program complements ACG’s operating lease business by providing customers with cost-effective aircraft financing. Among operating lessors, ACG believes that it has created a unique aircraft financing program.

“ACG is extremely pleased to have this opportunity to work with Turkish Airlines. The award of a financing mandate from the airline is a notable achievement for our AFS program,” said Bob Roy, managing director of ACG.

“As one of the leading airlines using structured aircraft financing, we are delighted to include the AFS program in our diversified portfolio of different financing types. We look forward to working with ACG in the financing of our two new B787 aircraft with the AFS program which we expect to be a sustainable long-term financing option in our future deliveries,” said Aysegul Denli, Senior Vice President, Finance of Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines reports 81.4% load factor in November and plans new routes from Antalya

Turkish Airlines, who has recently announced its passenger and cargo traffic results for November 2018, reached 81.4% Load Factor in that month. On top of the strong base effect of the last year, growth in the number of passengers, revenue per kilometre and load factor, is an important indicator of the continued growing interest in Turkey and Turkish Airlines in the last quarter of the year as well. 

According to the November 2018 Traffic Results;

The passenger growth trend continued in November, thus total number of passengers carried went up by 4% -compared to the same month of 2017- reaching 5.5 million passengers, and Load Factor went up to 81.4%.
In November 2018, Total Load Factor improved by 2 points -compared to the same period of 2017-, while international Load Factor increased by 3 points to 81%, domestic Load Factor reached to 84%.
International-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers) went up by approximately 8%, while the number of international passengers -excluding international-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers)- went up by 13%.
In November, cargo/mail volume continued the double digit growth trend and increased by 25%, compared to the same period of 2017. Main contributors to this growth in cargo/mail volume, are N. America with 45%, Africa with 32%, Far East with 23% and Europe with 21% increase.
In November, Africa, N. America, Far East and Middle East showed load factor growth of 5 points, 5 points, 3 points and 2 points respectively.

Turkish Airlines start flights to Lapland

Turkish Airlines has launched a new service between Istanbul – Rovaniemi (RVN) in Finland,  the growing carrier will offer three flights a week, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Rovaniemi Aiport is so far north in Finland that one of its runways actually crosses into the arctic circle and is also the home to Lapland Command. The airport has many seasonal services from European airlines, coming in the winter because of the wonderful scenery, the Aurora Borealis or northern lights and visits to Santa in the run up to Christmas. 

Rovaniemi is the capital of the Province of Lapland, it has many administrative offices, as well as home to the University of Lapland and has a vibrant community that welcome tourists.

Turkish Airlines orders more freighters....

Turkish Airlines and US plane maker Boeing have confirmed the industry speculation regarding an order for a further three dedicated cargo aircraft from the growing Istanbul based airline. 

The airline has ordered three 777 Freighters to further enhance its long-range freighter fleet as it pursues its goal of becoming the world's largest cargo carrier. "We are excited to expand our efficient cargo fleet with the 777 Freighter. This aircraft has contributed greatly to Turkish Cargo, Turkish Airlines' successful sub-brand, becoming the fastest-growing air cargo carrier in the world. The additional aircraft will provide us more flexibility to serve even more destinations as we continue to grow our global freight network," said M. İlker Aycı, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee.

Turkish Airlines starts flights to the Gambian capital, Banjul

One of the world's fastest growing international air carriers, Turkish Airlines,  keeps its expansion going by launching flights to Banjul which is the capital city of Gambia. 

From today, Monday,  November 26th 2018 the carrier will operate two flights to Banjul each week and will be in connection with Dakar flights, with the flights are scheduled for Mondays and Fridays

Banjul that is the capital and important port city of Gambia , is located along with the Atlantic Ocean. With Banjul flights , Turkish Airlines has increased its flight network to 54 in Africa by strengthening its presence in the continent . Following the addition of Banjul , Turkish Airlines now reaches 123 countries with 305 destinations worldwide.

At the opening ceremony , Senior Vice President of Sales (2. Region) Mr. Kerem Sarp pointed that ; ‘’We believe that the Africa will increase its importance for world tourism and trade in medium and long-term and we also keep to invest to potential of Africa.
