Oman Air and Air Italy signs code-share agreement

Passengers of Oman Air and Air Italy are enjoying the benefits of a great new codeshare deal which sees Air Italy’s “IG” code being placed on Oman Air’s flights between Milan Malpensa and Muscat.  At the same time, Oman Air has put the “WY” code on Air Italy flights between Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Cagliari in Sardinia, Palermo and Catania in Sicily, and Lamezia Terme.  But that's not all  - Oman Air’s code will also be on  Air Italy’s  US flights from Milan to New York and Miami.

Oman Air CEO Abdulaziz Al Raisi said: “We are proud and delighted with our new partnership with Air Italy. This codeshare agreement will make it so much easier for travellers from throughout Italy to visit our beautiful country of Oman. We look forward to welcoming visitors from all major Italian cities to come to our country to experience our renowned Omani hospitality."

He added: “This partnership with Air Italy is also a significant development for our airline. It marks Oman Air’s foray into North America with these codeshares offering Oman Air customers access on Air Italy flights to New York and Miami, via their Milan hub airport. This is an exciting milestone for our airline, and we look forward to expanding our global coverage in the months ahead.”

Air Italy signs codeshare agreement with Oman Air

Air Italy and Oman Air have entered into a codeshare partnership to offer customers enhanced connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and seven major destinations in Italy, effective today.

Under the agreement, Air Italy’s “IG” code is being placed on Oman Air’s flights between Milan Malpensa and Muscat, which are all on sale on the airitaly.com website. At the same time Oman Air is putting its “WY” code on Air Italy flights between Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Cagliari (Sardinia), Palermo and Catania (Sicily), and Lamezia Terme (Calabria).

Additionally, as a next step, Oman Air’s code will also be added to Air Italy’s Milan-New York and Milan-Miami flights, subject to the necessary government approvals.

Oman Air starts new services to Alexandria, Egypt

Oman Air commences direct flights to Egyptian city Alexandria from 31st May 2019, the airline’s 53rd destination in its expanding global network. Alexandria, Egypt’s second-largest city, is a major economic and industrial centre of the country. With its 30 km coastline extending along the Mediterranean Sea, coupled with its magnificent ambience and rich cultural heritage, Alexandria is also a popular tourist destination.

Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer Abdulaziz Al-Raisi said: “we are pleased to be offering direct services into the beautiful city of Alexandria, Egypt’s most important seaport, where more than 70% of the country’s imports and exports passes through. Commencement of direct services into Alexandria will allow Oman Air to further expand trade ties between our two countries, as well as drive growth in tourism numbers in both directions. Oman shares an excellent bilateral relation with Egypt, and this new route will further strengthen it. We are confident the sizeable Egyptian diaspora in Oman, consisting of investors and business communities, as well as residents and citizens of Oman, will find the addition of this second destination to Egypt, a welcomed addition to our expanding network”.

Oman Air announces partnership with MCI

                Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, and the industry-leading event agency and professional congress organiser, MCI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to increase MICE traffic to Oman, at the recently concluded IMEX event in Frankfurt, Germany.

Worth in excess of 90 Billion dollars across the world, MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Events) is a highly lucrative segment of the tourism industry and one that Oman is actively targeting.

Oman Air and Gulf Air tie up codeshare deal to include international flights

Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, and Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has expanded their existing codeshare agreement allowing passengers to benefit from the outstanding products and services offered by the two airlines. This will extend travel opportunities to fly beyond Muscat and Bahrain effective from the upcoming summer schedule.

Gulf Air will place its ‘GF’ code on Oman Air flights from Muscat to Salalah and Khasab in Oman, Nairobi in Kenya, Zanzibar in Tanzania, Goa and Lucknow in India, Kathmandu in Nepal and Jakarta in Indonesia. On the other hand, the extended codeshare agreement will see Oman Air place its ‘WY’ code on Gulf Air flights from Bahrain to Tbilisi in Georgia, Baku in Azerbaijan, Gassim in Saudi Arabia and Beirut in Lebanon.

Oman Air launch new sleepwear and amenities kits

Something new is in the air for passengers of Oman Air, as the national carrier of Oman makes premium comfort amenities available for all on selected flights in time for Eid Al Adha.

Oman Air has launched a sale of sleepwear, an exclusive amenities kit, and other Oman Air branded merchandise on a selected number of routes to mark the festive season. The new amenities, which have been carefully researched and developed, will be available on all long-haul flights to and from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The elegant Business Class Amouage amenity kit, designed especially for Oman Air, contains a set of luxurious travel essentials including hand and body moisturiser, face cream, a sleeping eyeshade and shaving razor as well as a Colgate dental kit with mouthwash.

Oman Air's new roye to Casablanca starts o Sunday

This Sunday will see the inaugural flight of Oman Air's new service from Muscat to the magical Moroccan city of Casablanca, as the carrier continues to expand both its fleet and its route network.

The new route comes fresh on the heels of Oman Air most recent new service, Istanbul, which started on 1st of June and ahead of the winter launch of a service to Moscow which is currently planned to start in October 2018.

The service to Casablanca will be operated by a 787-800 Dreamliner and will depart from Muscat four times per week flying to Mohammed V International Airport. With a flight time of 8 hours and 50 minutes, Flight WY171 will depart Muscat on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 01.20, arriving in Casablanca at 07.10. The return flight WY172 will depart Casablanca at 08.20 on a Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, arriving in Muscat International Airport’s new, award-winning passenger terminal at 19.15; a return flight duration of 7 hours and 50 minutes.

Boeing Delivers First 737 MAX for Oman Air

Boeing and Oman Air celebrated the delivery of the airline's first 737 MAX aeroplane, one of 30 that Oman Air will operate as it expands its fleet and service.

The flag carrier of the Sultanate of Oman has long operated the efficient and reliable Boeing 737.  With the MAX, Oman Air will be able to achieve a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel efficiency.

Kenya and Oman codeshare deal



Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman has agreed to a new codeshare deal with Kenya Airways covering services between its hub at Muscat and the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

The new arrangement will offer seamless connectivity to Kenya Airways customers in accessing Muscat directly from Nairobi. Oman Air inaugurated flights to Nairobi during March this year and is pleased with the way the route is developing. 

Kenya Airways will apply is KQ codeshare numbers on the Oman flights operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Nairobi and Muscat.  CEO Paul Gregorowitsch said: "Through this partnership, Oman Air extends its exemplary services to guests of Kenya Airways. Trade between Kenya and Oman has been growing steadily over the years and this latest agreement is a natural progression, following the launch of our new flight from Muscat to Nairobi in March this year."

Gulf Air and Oman codeshare deal

Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, has recently launched a new codeshare agreement with Oman Air, the national carrier of the sultanate of Oman, which will sees the airlines’ combined frequencies between Bahrain and Muscat increase to 6 daily flights.

Mr. Ahmed Janahi, Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer, commented on the agreement: “This codeshare reflects Gulf Air’s consistent drive to offer our customers attractive options to fly to popular travel destinations. With this agreement we are not only increasing our flight frequencies to and from Muscat but also giving Muscat-based passengers an expanded range of connections with Gulf Air via Bahrain International Airport to various destinations across our network. On this occasion, we thank Oman Air for sharing our commitment and vision, which I am sure will allow us to continue to reinforce the longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman – helping strengthen tourism and commercial ties.”

Technical Issue Force Oman Air Flight To Return To Base.

An Oman Air plane flying from Muscat to Kathmandu, Nepal, was forced to return to base after experiencing a technical snag on takeoff.

Flight WY 337, which took-off at 0613 local time with 137 guests and six crew members on board, made a safe return to Muscat International Airport.

The guests and crew disembarked smoothly and without incident.
All guests were accommodated on an alternative aircraft later the same day.

"Oman Air’s over-riding priority is the safety and well-being of all its guests and staff, and the airline is proud of its unblemished safety record," the airline said in a statement.

"Oman Air thanks the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, the staff at Muscat International Airport, Royal Oman Police and Oman Airport Management Company for their cooperation and professional support," it said.

Oman Air Expands

The National Carrier of the Sultanate of Oman will be resuming services between Salalah and Dubai from May 4th and between Muscat and Zanzibar from May 16th. Salalah flights will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Zanzibar will operate 3 times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
