More expansion for Lynx Air

Lynx Air, one of  Canada's leading ultra-affordable airlines has commenced flights from Victoria International Airport to Calgary International Airport with a twice-weekly service.  The airline says it will expand the service to three times a week in the run-up to summer.  

Lynx's network spans 10 destinations coast to coast across Canada, including Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto Pearson, Hamilton, Halifax, and St. John's. The airline operates a fleet of brand-new, fuel-efficient Boeing 737 aircraft and plans to grow its fleet to more than 46 aircraft over the next five to seven years.

Lynx Air recently announced it will launch its inaugural flight to St. John’s from Toronto on 28th June and will initially operate the route twice a week, with the promise to upgrade it to a daily service by the 14th of July.  The carrier also confirmed it will start five through-flights a week from Edmonton to St. John’s. On July 16, Lynx will start operating two through-flights a week from Calgary to St. John’s. At that point, Lynx will be flying a total of 14 flights a week in and out of St. John’s.  The Edmonton and Calgary “through-flights” will operate via Toronto, providing a seamless service with a single boarding pass and the ability to check bags through to the final destination.

11 Boeing 737 MAX 8s for Lynx Air

Leasing giant BOC Aviation Limited has agreed to purchase 11 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from the U.S. planemaker to lease to Lynx Air.  These jets will be powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines and are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and 2024.

BOC Aviation is a global aircraft operating leasing company with a fleet of 521 aircraft owned, managed and on order. Its owned and managed fleet was leased to 86 airlines in 38 countries and regions. It is wholly owned by the Bank of China.

Canada's new ultra-affordable airline Lynx Air uses IBS Software's iFlight to power its operations

 

                           IBS Software has partnered with Lynx Air (Lynx), Canada's new ultra-affordable airline, to manage its flight operations.

IBS's iFlight digital platform will optimize Lynx's flight and crew operations in keeping with the airline's ultra low-cost business model. iFlight provides a fully digital, integrated operations platform, simplifying and automating processes and systems to deliver optimal efficiency, regulatory compliance and reduced operating costs. April start for LynxAir Canada as ticket go on sale......

One of the latest additions to the Canadian aviation scene, Lynx Air is getting ready to launch services on 7th April, with tickets on sale now.

The Calgary-based airline inaugural flight will be from Calgary, its home base to Vancouver.  Also in the first raft of destinations, Lynx Air has announced for its launch schedule include Toronto, Winnipeg and Kelowna. 

The ultra-low-cost airline is launching at a difficult time with passenger numbers still depressed from the coronavirus pandemic downturn and the excessive over saturation of the Canadian travel market with numerous airlines trying to attract customers. 

Merren McArthur, CEO and president of Lynx Air told local media “It definitely is an evolving situation, however, we’re seeing there is a great deal of pent up demand for domestic travel in Canada and people still do want to fly and they still do want to travel,” she said. “We think it’s a real good opportunity for us because we’re focused on leisure travellers and people who want to connect with their family and friends.”

Starting with three new Boeing 737 MAX jets, Lynx Air follows in the footsteps of WestJet which also commenced operations with three earlier models of the twin jet back in 1996. The plan for the fledgling carrier is to have nearly 50 jets over the next seven years join its fleet as it overs more and more routes to its schedule.   The carriers new Boeing 737 seat up to 189 people and feature Boeing Sky Interior lighting, large overhead bins and extra legroom seats for extra charges.
