CDB Aviation introduces next generation Airbus A330 P2F Freighter to the market


CDB Aviation, a wholly-owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Limited confirmed this week, a new partnership with Germany-based EFW to conduct the Passenger-to-Freighter (“P2F”) conversion of two Airbus A330-300 aircraft in 2021, which will be available for lease to airline customers from early 2022.

The A330-300 P2F conversion program marks CDB Aviation’s first entry into freighter conversion, advancing the lessor’s strategic efforts to deliver ever-more customized fleet solutions to customers, while tapping the long-term growth potential of the medium widebody freighter market. The A330 P2Fs are part of the existing fleet of 228 aircraft, in addition to the lessor’s further commitments for 150 in-demand, next-generation technology aircraft.

CDB Aviation confirmed lease deal for an additional six Airbus A321neos to Wizz Air


One of the leading global aircraft leasing firms, CDB Aviation, has confirmed a massive deal with budget carrier Wizz Air for the sale and leaseback transaction for a batch of six Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The European low-cost-carrier Wizz Air is expected to receive four A321neos in the fourth quarter of 2021, with the remaining two slated for the second quarter of 2022. These powerful aircraft feature Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and are configured with the widest single-aisle cabin, jam-packed with 239 seats in a single-class layout.

“We are very pleased that the Wizz Air team has again elected to turn to our platform for the financing of these additional aircraft in the sale and leaseback channel,” stated Paul Boyle, CDB Aviation’s Head of Europe, the Middle East & Africa.

CDB Aviation bolsters executive team with Cronan Enright as head of strategy

Company Bolsters Executive Team in Continued Drive to Advance Strategic Vision Focused on Sustainable Business Growth

CDB Aviation has announced the addition of Cronan Enright to its Dublin-based executive team in the newly created position of Head of Strategy, reporting to Chief Investment Officer Craig Segor.

Enright has more than two decades of experience in leadership roles focused on strategy, commercial, and advisory, which he gained throughout the aviation value chain, having worked with a broad group of stakeholders, including aircraft lessors, manufacturers, airlines, investors, as well as suppliers.

CDB Aviation Leases Three A320neos to Frontier Airlines

Deliveries Encompass Addition of Frontier’s 100th A320 Family Aircraft


CDB Aviation, a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Limited (“CDB Leasing”), announced the company commenced this week the deliveries of three Airbus A320neos to new customer, Denver-based low fare carrier Frontier Airlines (“Frontier”) as part of a sale-and-leaseback transaction.

The LEAP-1A engine-powered aircraft, delivering from Airbus’ A320 Family jetliner final assembly line in Mobile, Alabama, are bound for an immediate entry into passenger service on U.S. domestic routes.

“We are thrilled to have Frontier join our growing customer family,” emphasized Luís da Silva, CDB Aviation Head of Commercial, Americas, adding that “we look forward to a sustainable, long-term relationship, which we hope to further grow in the future.”

CDB Aviation Appoints Brendan O'Neill as Chief Financial Office

CDB Aviation announced a new executive addition to its Dublin-based leadership team with the appointment of Brendan O'Neill as Chief Financial Officer (pictured above), who will oversee all financial aspects of the company.

Brendan O'Neill has two decades of aircraft leasing and multinational experience, bringing a unique blend of cross-functional experience, combining financial, operational, and functional leadership.

SAS and CDB sign deal for four Airbus aircraft

The leasing giant, CDB Aviation, a wholly-owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing has confirmed today a new transaction with its long-standing customer, Scandinavia’s largest airline SAS, for a fleet of four Airbus aircraft, including three A320neos and one A350-900. The deliveries of these aircraft are expected to occur between June 2020 and May 2022.

“We are very delighted to carry out yet another transaction with SAS for these Airbus aircraft,” said CDB Aviation Chief Marketing Officer Peter Goodman, elaborating that “we look forward to further assisting in the reshaping of SAS’ fleet, particularly in support of efforts to advance environmental sustainability goals for their fleet operations.”

Goodman underscored that the lessor’s commercial team is pointedly expanding outreach in all aviation markets, energetically pursuing emerging opportunities for aircraft transactions, including in the sale and leaseback channel. “Airlines can leverage the strength and robust scale of our platform and capabilities to access financing solutions that address their rapidly changing operating requirements during these unprecedented times,” added Goodman.

CDB Aviation and SAS Agree on Lease of Fleet of Four Airbus Aircraft

CDB Aviation Adds Executives to Americas Team

CDB Aviation Leases Pair of E190s to Myanmar Airways International

CDB Aviation announced on the sidelines of the 2020 Singapore Airshow the signing of a lease agreement for a pair of Embraer E190 aircraft with Myanmar Airways International (“MAI”).

The Embraer jet duo will join the carrier’s all-Airbus fleet this summer. The E190s are anticipated to debut on flights within the Myanmar domestic market and some key international routes starting as early as August 2020, supplementing domestic and regional operations by sister carrier Air KBZ, according to the airline. MAI currently operates scheduled service to destinations in South East Asia from its main base at Yangon International Airport and Mandalay International Airport.

“We are delighted to be handing over the two E190s to our newest APAC customer MAI, marking the introduction of first-generation Embraer jets on the carrier’s expanding route network,” remarked CDB Aviation Chief Marketing Officer Peter Goodman. “This jet duo will fit well within MAI’s expanding operations, facilitating their planned development of Myanmar’s market.”

CDB Aviation completed 89 aircraft transactions during 2019

China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co, subsidiary CDB Aviation has confirmed its 2019 performance this week which showed strong business activity and growth last year.  The firm executed 89 aircraft transactions during the year.


“This past year’s continued growth in our operations is evidence of our unwavering commitment to execution and progressing our highly competitive position in the world’s key markets,” summed newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Patrick Hannigan.

CDB Aviation’s strong activity in 2019 was underpinned by its leadership’s ongoing focus on the long-term vision and strategies rooted in the past three years of successful evolution of business model into a full-service, global platform, and the continued robust performance of its global team.

CDB Aviation Names Patrick Hannigan New CEO

CDB Aviation announced this week that aviation industry veteran Patrick Hannigan has been named the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, taking the helm at a pivotal time in the lessor’s robust development, with the goal of furthering its growth momentum.

Hannigan, who is promoted to CEO from his current position of President and Chief Commercial Officer, succeeds Peter Chang, whose planned retirement caps three years of leading the successful transformation of CDB Aviation into a formidable, full-service, global aircraft leasing platform.

First of three Airbus A330 aircraft arrives for Onur Air

CDB Aviation has delivered the first of three Airbus A330-343 aircraft to its new airline customer in Turkey, Onur Air. The remaining two aircraft are expected to deliver in the second quarter of 2020.

“We are very pleased to have Onur Air join our growing European customer base,” said Peter Goodman, CDB Aviation Head of Commercial Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “These A330s will well complement the growth objectives of this pioneer in Turkey’s aviation sector, enabling them to further execute its mission to continuously break new grounds.”

Six A330neo aircraft for Garuda Indonesia

CDB Aviation has confirmed the delivery of the first of six Airbus A330-900neo aircraft as part of a sale and leaseback transaction and on long-term lease to a new customer in Asia Pacific, the flag carrier of Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia. 

The fleet of six A330neo widebody airliners, equipped with latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and configured in a two-class cabin layout with 24 seats in business and 277 seats in economy, will support the company’s growth and business expansion in the future.

CDB Aviation Delivers First of Four Embraer E190 Aircraft to Bolivian Airline Amaszonas

CDB Aviation announced today the delivery of the first of four Embraer E190 aircraft to Bolivia-based Amaszonas Línea Aérea (“Amaszonas”).

The Embraer regional jets, configured with 110 seats in a single class layout, will modernize the Amaszonas fleet, offering more than double the capacity. The E190s will serve the carrier’s growing route network, which connects its main hub at Santa Cruz de la Sierra’s Viru Viru Airport to domestic and international destinations. The airline will also operate the E190s at Montevideo’s Carrasco International Airport in the future. The three remaining jets are anticipated to join the carrier’s fleet between the end of October and early January 2020.

Ural Airlines receives the first of three A320neo aircraft


CDB Aviation’s new customer Ural Airlines receives the first of three A320neo aircraft!



CDB Aviation, a wholly-owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co, completed the delivery of an Airbus A320neo aircraft to its new customer in Russia, Yekaterinburg-based Ural Airlines.

The aircraft is part of the lease agreement for a fleet of three A320neos, with two further jets slated for arrival through the end of 2019. The delivery also marks the introduction of the first CFM International LEAP-1А-powered A320neo to be operated in Russia.

“We warmly welcome Ural Airlines to our continually growing customer base in Russia,” said Peter Goodman, CDB Aviation Head of Commercial Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “This first new-generation aircraft to join Ural Airlines’ fleet will well serve the ambitious growth and renewal plans of this leading Russian carrier.”

CDB Aviation Delivers 737-800 to New Russian Customer NordStar Airlines

CDB Aviation, announced the placement of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on a long-term lease to a new customer in Russia, Joint-stock company NordStar Airlines, with airport bases in Krasnoyarsk and Moscow (Domodedovo).

The 737-800 aircraft was delivered to the carrier in Ostrava, Czech Republic on July 31, and is expected to support the carrier’s expanding operations between Russian cities and the neighbouring regions within the Russian Federation and foreign countries.

Mongolian Carrier Hunnu Air leases four Embraer E190 Aircraft

Mongolian domestic airline, Hunnu Air has signed a deal for a fleet of four Embraer E-190 aircraft with CDB Aviation, a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co.

The E190 aircraft will support the carrier’s domestic and regional network, which now operates flights within Mongolia and to China and Russia from its Chinggis Khaan International Airport base. The four Embraer E190s enjoy a two-class configuration that features 92 seats in economy and 6 business class seats. According to CDB, the aircraft are expected to be delivered to the airline in May 2019, and in 2020 and 2021.
