Six A330neo aircraft for Garuda Indonesia

CDB Aviation has confirmed the delivery of the first of six Airbus A330-900neo aircraft as part of a sale and leaseback transaction and on long-term lease to a new customer in Asia Pacific, the flag carrier of Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia. 

The fleet of six A330neo widebody airliners, equipped with latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and configured in a two-class cabin layout with 24 seats in business and 277 seats in economy, will support the company’s growth and business expansion in the future.

“We are delighted to welcome Garuda to our growing Asia Pacific customer base,” noted CDB Aviation Head of Commercial, Asia Pacific Sign Kadouh. “These A330neos will deliver superior operating economics and extended range capability to position Garuda for the sustained growth in its medium and long-haul operations as the company continues its long-term strategy to compete in the industry.”

Cebu Pacific finalises order for 16 A330neo

Earlier this month Cebu Pacific (CEB), a carrier based in the Philippines, has signed a firm order with Airbus for 16 long-range A330neo aircraft. The order firms up the wide-body portion of a previously announced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which also includes commitments for 10 A321XLR and five A320neo single-aisle aircraft.

The A330neo ordered by Cebu Pacific is a higher-capacity version of the A330-900, with up to 460 seats in a single-class configuration. Cebu Pacific plans to operate the aircraft on trunk routes within the Philippines and the rest of Asia, as well as on longer-range services to Australia and the Middle East.

Delta adding 2 more efficient A330-900neos to fleet

Delta has reached an agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) to lease two new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft set for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021. These aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

“These two incremental aircraft represent an opportunistic play to fulfil our near-term widebody aircraft needs for our customers and employees as older generation aircraft are retired and to support measured growth in 2021,” said Greg May, Delta’s Senior Vice President – Fleet and Technical Procurement. “We’re also pleased that the engines on these aircraft will be maintained by Delta TechOps professionals through our partnership with Rolls-Royce.”

Separately, Delta has made an agreement with Airbus to accelerate three planned A330-900neo deliveries, with two arriving in the fourth quarter of 2020 and another in the first quarter of 2021. As a result, Delta expects to take delivery of seven total A330-900neo aircraft in 2020.

In July, Delta was the first U.S. airline to operate the next-generation A330-900neo on Seattle service to Shanghai, which offers the latest in innovative design and technology for customers. Featuring the Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin, the jet is also the first Delta aircraft to feature memory foam cushions throughout the aircraft for hours of comfort. Additionally, it’s the first Delta widebody aircraft to feature its new wireless in-flight entertainment system in every seat.

In September, the aircraft debuted on Seattle service to Seoul-Incheon and on October 27 will begin Seattle flying to Tokyo-Narita.

AirAsia Launches Future Of Long-Haul Fleet

                                      AirAsia officially welcomed its first two Airbus A330neo aircraft, the future of its long-haul fleet, by hosting a ceremonial event at Don Mueang Airport this week.

The two aircraft, registration numbers HS-XJA and HS-XJB, are now based in Don Mueang Airport and will operate scheduled services to key destinations throughout Asia Pacific, facilitating growth of AirAsia’s long-haul operations from Thailand.

The Airbus A330neo is a new-generation widebody aircraft that delivers numerous benefits and efficiencies, including enhanced cabin comfort, greater range to fly further - powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines - as well as new modifications including composite Sharklet wingtip devices that generate aerodynamic improvements and reduced fuel burn.

Airbus delivers first A330neo in Hi Fly livery

Hi Fly, the privately-owned Portuguese wet-lease specialist operating an exclusive all-Airbus fleet, has taken delivery of a new A330neo on lease from Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL). The aircraft is configured with 371 seats in a two-class layout, with 18 high-comfort lie-flat business class seats and 353 economy seats. All seats are equipped with the latest-generation in-flight entertainment system, and mood lighting is available throughout the aircraft.

The A330 will be deployed to further expand Hi Fly’s long-haul wet lease and charter operations worldwide. Hi Fly operates an all-Airbus fleet of 20 aircraft including four A320 Family aircraft, 15 A330/A340 Family aircraft and one A380.

Cebu Pacific to order 16 A330neo, 10 A321XLR and 5 A320neo


Cebu Pacific (CEB)
a Low-Cost Carrier based in the Philippines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 31 Airbus aircraft, comprising 16 A330neo, 10 A321XLR and 5 A320neo.

Cebu Pacific’s A330neo aircraft will be a higher capacity version of the A330-900, with 460 seats in single class configuration. The airline also becomes one of the launch airlines for the A321XLR, which will be able to fly nonstop from the Philippines to destinations as far afield as India and Australia. The A320neo aircraft announced today will be the first of the type to feature 194 seats in a single class layout.

This latest agreement supports CEB’s ongoing fleet renewal programme, which aims to have only new generation, environmentally efficient aircraft by 2024. The fast-growing carrier’s decision also strengthens its all-Airbus fleet status in the jet category.

Airbus reveals first A330neo for AirAsia

Airbus and AirAsia have unveiled the first A330neo for the AirAsia Group at the Paris Air Show. 

The aircraft will be delivered via lessor Avolon in the coming weeks for operation by AirAsia’s long-haul affiliate, AirAsia X Thailand. The event was attended by Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, AirAsia X Malaysia Chairman, Nadda Buranasiri, AirAsia X Group CEO, Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer, Domhnal Slattery, Avolon Chief Executive Officer and Chris Cholerton, Rolls-Royce President Civil Aerospace.

Azul receives the first Airbus A330neo in the Americas

The first A330neo of the Americas has been delivered to Azul Linhas Aéreas on lease from Avolon, becoming the first airline from the Americas to fly the A330-900. The aircraft is the first of 15 A330neo ordered by Avolon.

The A330neo, Airbus’ new generation A330 aircraft, will be used by the airline to expand its international route network between Brazil and Europe and the United States. Fitted with a three-class cabin accommodating 34 business class,  96 economy Xtra  and 168 economy class seats, the A330neo offers passengers greater comfort along with the newest and the most advanced in-flight experience while the airline will benefit from the aircraft’s unrivalled operating economics.

“We are very proud to be the first A330neo operator in the Americas. This new aircraft will play a key role in the expansion of our international markets supporting our strategy of having a modern and fuel-efficient fleet,” celebrated John Rodgerson, Azul’s CEO.

Out of the paint shop comes the first Lion Air A330neo

First Lion Air A330neo emerges from the Airbus paint shop


The very first Airbus A330neo for Lion Air has emerged from the manufacturer's paint shop in Toulouse, France. The aircraft will now continue its industrial process and then will progress onto a series of ground and flight tests, before the delivery to the airline in the coming weeks.

Altogether, Lion Air Group will acquire 10 A330neo aircraft, eight of which will be leased from BOC Aviation. The aircraft will have a single-class layout seating 440 passengers and will be operated by Lion Air on selected domestic routes, as well as charter and pilgrimage service to Saudi Arabia. Some of the aircraft will be operated by Thai Lion on long-haul services from Thailand.

Corsair takes Safran products for A330neo

 Corsair, Avolon and Safran announced today an agreement to provide the latest technology interior solutions for Corsair’s three new A330neos on lease from Avolon.

Safran is providing Z400 Economy Class seats and RAVE inflight entertainment system embedded personal displays in addition to power plugs at every seat. Additional Safran solutions are a lower deck crew rests and the latest galleys and ovens.

Air Senegal’s first A330neo arrives in Dakar ahead of delivery


“Casamance,” comes home......


The first Airbus A330neo for Air Senegal has touched down at Blaise-Diagne International Airport in Dakar, earlier this week. The technologically advanced jet painted in the livery of Air Senegal has been named “Casamance,” and was presented during a ceremony attended by His Excellency Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, and Philippe Bohn, Chief Executive Officer Air Senegal. 

Air Senegal, which started operations in 2018, is set to receive its first A330neo in the coming weeks making it the first African airline to receive and operate the newest member of the leading Airbus widebody family. Fitted with a three-class cabin comprising 32 Business class, 21 Premium Plus and 237 Economy class seats, Air Senegal plans to operate its first A330neo on the soon to be opened Dakar-Paris route and develop its medium and long-haul network.

The A330neo is a true new generation aircraft building on the A330’s success and leveraging on A350 XWB technology. It incorporates highly efficient new generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and a new greater span 3D optimised wing with new Sharklets. Together, these advances bring a significant reduction in fuel consumption of 25% compared with older generation competitor aircraft of a similar size. The A330 is one of the most popular widebody families ever, having received over 1,700 orders from 120 customers.

Airbus A330neo gets its ETOPS beyond 180 minutes certification

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the Airbus A330-900 for Extended-range Twin-engine aircraft Operations (ETOPS) “beyond 180 minutes” diversion time. This significant achievement means that operators of the A330neo, which is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, will benefit from the most efficient, reliable and direct long-range routings.

The approval, which includes ETOPS 180 min. capability in the aircraft’s basic specification, now also includes the option for “ETOPS 285 min.” This extends the potential air diversion distance to around 2,000nm. The U.S. FAA’s respective ETOPS certification is expected soon.

TAP Air Portugal gets first Airbus A330-900

Airbus delivers first A330-900 to launch operator TAP Air Portugal

A major step forward took place this week in the development of the new Airbus A330-900nea as the launch customer TAP Air Portugal took delivery of the first one.

The world’s first new-generation widebody A330neo will offer TAP unbeatable operating economics, increased range, and Airbus’ new Airspace cabin offering passengers the best in class comfort. The Portuguese carrier will take delivery of a further 20 A330-900s in the coming years.

TAP Air Portugal’s first A330-900 is leased from Avolon. It features 298 seats in a comfortable three-class lay-out with 34 full-flat business class, 96 economy plus and 168 economy class seats. The Airspace by Airbus cabin offers more personal space, larger overhead storage bins, advanced cabin lighting and the latest-generation in-flight entertainment system and connectivity. The aircraft will be deployed on routes from Portugal to the Americas and Africa.

Delta orders 10 additional A330-900neos and cuts A350-900 order to 15 for the time being

to replace older wide-body jets & facilitate measured growth


The mega US carrier Delta Air Lines has confirmed on Friday, November 16th it will be adding 10 Airbus 330-900neo aircraft to its existing fleet under an agreement with Airbus and engine maker Rolls-Royce. This latest feet development expands the carrier's order of the next-generation wide-body jet from 25 to 35. Delta expects the first delivery of the state-of-the-art aircraft, which is powered by next-generation and fuel-efficient engine technology, will be during the second quarter of 2019. 

“Expanding our A330 order book not only ensures that Delta’s near-to-medium-term wide-body needs are taken care of, but also drives our strategic, measured international growth,” said Gil West, Delta’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The next-generation engine technology from Rolls-Royce which powers the A330neo provides compelling operating economics, superior fuel performance and the range and coverage for our transoceanic needs going forward. These changes are consistent with Delta’s long-term philosophy of investing 50% of operating cash flow back into the business, ”

Kuwait Airways orders eight A330neo


Kuwait Airways, the national carrier of the state of Kuwait, has ordered eight brand new Airbus A330neo's from Airbus today.

The A330 has become one of the most popular widebody twinjets ever, the European manufacturer has received over 1,700 orders from 120 customers over the years and the latest versions, the A330neo was launched in 2014 and has two variants, the -800 and -900, which share 99% commonality and share the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines which offer substantial savings over previous engine offerings.
  
“The A330-800 will seamlessly fit into our fleet expansion and growth plans. Its unbeatable operating economics and performance in addition to best in class passenger comfort make it a sound investment." Eight new Airbus A330neo's for Lion Air


Lion Air will get eight brand new Airbus A330neo aircraft between now and the end of 2020 after leasing company BOC Aviation Limited confirmed it had purchased the planes.

 BOC Aviation, previously known as Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise confirmed it had done the deal today and says that Lion Air will get the new aircraft in 2019 and 2020 and will help the carrier expand its network.

“We are delighted to partner with Lion Air Group once again as we commit to deliver the latest technology Airbus twin-aisle aircraft, commencing next year,” said Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation. “This transaction takes the number of Airbus A330NEO family aircraft in our order book to 10."

Another battle between Boeing and Airbus

The battle between Boeing and Airbus to replace United Airlines 767's continues at a rapid pace, as Boeing wants the airline to buy more 787 aircraft, while Airbus is hoping the US giant will take its A330neo offering.

Boeing is the favourite, as they have already sold United the Dreamliner 787 aircraft and the airline has options on a number of airframes and thanks to significant discounts on list prices, is unusually cheaper than the A330neo's that Airbus is offering.

Airbus’ A330neo continues toward its 2018 service entry

The A330neo is demonstrating its capabilities as the newest member of Airbus’ proven and highly-reliable twin-engine A330 Family, with flight testing continuing ahead of its planned service entry in Summer 2018.

Two test aircraft have logged more than 700 hours aloft in the 200-plus flights performed as of 10 April, according to A330neo aircraft integration and flight testing integrated product team (IPT) leader Jean-Christophe Bonjour.

He noted that flight testing has covered the globe, including the cold weather validations in Kazakhstan in temperatures as low as -27° C., natural icing testing in the United States, crosswind landing evaluations in Ireland, a Bolivia-based altitude campaign at 8,000 ft., and recently-completed hot weather trials in Mexico, which had temperatures of up to 37° C.

Two A330neo's for Air Senegal



Air Sénégal, the national carrier of Senegal has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for two A330neo aircraft, which is the new re-engined version of the best-selling A330 widebody airliner. The A330neo will benefit the airline’s growth and business expansion in the future. The agreement makes Air Sénégal the first airline in Africa to select the A330neo.


The agreement was announced during a signing ceremony at the Dubai Airshow in the presence of Maimouna Ndoye Seck, Minister of Air transport and Development of Infrastructure, Senegal. Air Senegal will launch operations in 2018, the airline plans to use the A330neo to develop its medium and long-haul network with the aircraft offering cutting-edge technology along with more efficient operations.
