Geneva comes back to the growing destination list from London City Airport .............

With Switzerland now on the UK Green List, and Swiss Air Lines back on the ever-increasing network from London City Airport.  So you can roam freely once again. And where better than the bejewelled city of Geneva. SWISS flights are operated by the comfortable and popular Airbus A220 aircraft with return fares coming out around £110.
SWISS

The old town is, without doubt, Geneva’s greatest gem. A cultured cluster of cobbled streets, city squares, big-name boutiques, museums, and churches. A place where getting lost is a lucky mishap, and the absence of a map just makes things more exciting.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays since 1970, the Plaine de Plainpalais teems with stalls and people. This is one of Switzerland’s largest flea markets. Bargain hunters and collectors graze on organic fare as they search bric-à-brac, books, clothes, jewellery, antiques and decorative items. Spectators and collectors flock to discover the most unbelievable objects, sometimes even vintage.

It could be said that Geneva is the gastronomic heart of Switzerland, it has over 1,000 restaurants which cater for almost every sort of world cuisine you can think of.  These eating places vary from wooden huts to posh Michelin starred restaurants, so something for all pockets.

Getting around is pretty easy, Geneva is a relatively small city, which means the centre is easily walkable. Pretty much everything is within a twenty-minute walk or so, but should the weather be inclement or you want t rest a bit,  the city's public transport system is a lot better than many European cities. It has an interconnected system of buses, trams, boats and trains - which all use the same ticket!  Best advice is to get yourself a Geneva Pass which will get you around all the city on public transport as well as entry to a lot of the top tourist attractions.  The passes are available for 24, 48 or 72 hours and are a great way to cut costs and add convenience to city breaks to Geneva.

Other direct flights to Geneva from our favourite airport,  London City are with BA with return fares of around £115 for October, trips to Geneva need not break the bank and are ideal for a city break getaway.
