GOL Linhas AĆ©reas Inteligentes has issued a statement regarding it's now former partner - Delta following the announcement by the US mega carrier advising it was taking a 20% stake in LATAM for $1.9 billion. GOL says Delta has been a "terrific partner and we wish them well. We valued our partnership with Delta, and are gratified to see its continuing confidence in the Latin American aviation market."
The phase-out of this codeshare arrangements isn't expected to cause difficulties, as GOL says it will continue to work "Delta to ensure a seamless experience for customers. GOL Airlines is the largest Brazilian domestic carrier and we look forward to competing and growing in our markets.
It is also expected that American will make overtures to GOL to rebuild Latin American connections it lost following the Delta/LATAM. American hasn't responded to questions about possible future negotiations with GOL, however many in the industry believe its just a matter of time.
