The US Ultra-low-cost carrier, Spirit is starting a number of services to Austin, Texas!

Beginning February 14th, 2019, Spirit will launch nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to nine cities across the United States. The budget carrier with the yellow planes will offer nonstop service between the ATX and Baltimore/Washington, DC, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Orlando.  Just a few months later, on May 2nd, Spirit will add nonstop service between Austin and Los Angeles. Austin will mark Spirit’s 70th destination in its growing network, and the new service will generate approximately 50 new jobs.

“Austin is not only a booming hub for music, cuisine and the arts, but it has quickly become an economic driver for multiple other industries,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning. “Texas’ capital city is a place where we believe our affordable fares and signature service on nonstop flights will resonate and bring both visitors and local residents in and out of the heart of Texas. We are offering not one or two, but nine different nonstop destinations because we know Austin is ready for Spirit.”

“Central Texas travellers will benefit from Spirit Airlines’ distinctive service,” said Jim Smith, Executive Director of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. “This expands our travel options and we welcome Spirit to the airport.”

Austin will join Houston and Dallas as the third destination for Spirit in the Lone Star State.  It comes just weeks after the airline announced it would be starting service in Jacksonville, Florida and Cali, Colombia, along with expanding significantly in Orlando, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
