Emirates aircraft in quarantine in New York JFK

An Emirates jet has been quarantined at New York's JFK airport today following reports that more than 10 people on the aircraft have fallen ill.

The airline confirmed that about 10 people had been affected on the flight from Dubai that arrived in New York around 9.10 local time this morning.

According to local media, the pilot had advised air traffic control that some passengers on the flight had been feeling ill, coughing and had high temperatures, prior to landing. Emergency services were then deployed to meet the aircraft. At the moment there is no definitive cause for the illness, although food poisoning is one of a number of causes being investigated.
