easyJet aircraft hits KLM tail at Amsterdam

An easyJet aircraft was being pushed back on the taxiway at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport when it struck the tail of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines aircraft that was about to depart for Madrid.

The easyJet aircraft was departing for a flight to London Gatwick Airport yesterday morning shortly after 0600 when the incident happened. According to local media, there were no injuries and the passengers were taken back to the terminal where they had to wait for the budget airline to provide a replacement aircraft.

An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the two aircraft had made contact while being pushed back from the stand at the airport early on Tuesday morning. The replacement flight eventually took off just after 11 in the morning.

A KLM spokesperson advised that it had put its passengers on a replacement aircraft to go to the Spanish capital and there had been no injuries.

An investigation is underway.
