The loss-making Air Namibia should be shut down, that was the cry from the nations President Hage Geingob during a parliamentary session in Windhoek after delivering his state-of-the-nation speech in which he did not mention the troubled state carrier.
"Yes, Air Namibia must be liquidated,” he replied, in answer to a question from politicians, “We have a very serious problem with Air Namibia."
The president stated the carrier has previously received state funds, it has been "bailed out, bailed out", but had been unwilling to make any real or structural changes. "But it must be restructured, - If liquidation is the thing, we must do that."
"It is not making any profits. - No, we must do something about it." Geingob warned.
