AerCap Holdings announces pricing of $2.4 billion aggregate principal amount of senior notes

AerCap Ireland Capital Designated Activity Company and AerCap Global Aviation Trust, each a wholly-owned subsidiary of AerCap Holdings N.V, priced an offering of senior notes, consisting of $1,300 million aggregate principal amount of the Issuers' 4.625% Senior Notes due 2029 and $1,100 million aggregate principal amount of the Issuers' 4.950% Senior Notes due 2034. The Notes will be fully and unconditionally guaranteed on a senior unsecured basis by the company and certain other subsidiaries of the company.

The Issuers intend to use the net proceeds from the Notes for general corporate purposes, including to acquire, invest in, finance or refinance aircraft assets and to repay indebtedness.

RBC Capital Markets, Wells Fargo Securities, BofA Securities, HSBC, Fifth Third Securities and SOCIETE GENERALE are serving as joint book-running managers for the underwritten public offering.

flyExclusive enters exclusive agreement to provide aircraft management services to Volato Group Inc.

flyExclusive has announced that it has entered into an Aircraft Management Services Agreement with Volato Group, the largest HondaJet operator in the United States.

“As a fully integrated operator, flyExclusive is well-positioned to offer synergistic value to Volato’s clients and deliver enhanced value for our overall growing customer base,” said Jim Segrave, Founder and CEO of flyExclusive. “Over the years, we’ve made strategic investments to remove industry bottlenecks and grow and maintain a leading, consistent customer experience. We’re proud to welcome Volato’s customers and look forward to offering them access to our growing fleet of light, midsize and super-midsize jets.”

Under the terms of the agreement, the Company will manage flight operations, sales and expenses of Volato’s fleet, consisting of 13 fully fractionalized aircraft, 8 leased aircraft and 4 managed aircraft. The goal is to transfer aircraft to the flyExclusive certificate, which will occur over the coming months in coordination with the FAA. The Company will also execute the flights for the Volato customer base of approximately 184 fractional customers and 265 block customers on the Volato certificate, until they are moved over to FLYX agreements, in addition to Volato’s retail and wholesale business. This will significantly increase the FLYX direct-to-customer facing business as planned nearly immediately.

Rocket Lab sets launch date for second dedicated Kinéis mission to deploy IoT constellation

Rocket Lab USA, a global leader in launch services and space systems, announced it has set the launch window for its 53rd Electron Launch. The mission will be the second of five dedicated launches for the French company Kinéis.

The ‘Kinéis Killed the RadIOT Star’ mission is scheduled to launch from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand during a 14-day launch window that opens on September 17, 2024, NZST.

This mission will launch just three months after the ‘No Time Toulouse’ mission, Kinéis’ first launch with Rocket Lab. ‘Kinéis Killed the RadIOT Star’ will be the second of five dedicated Electron launches for Kinéis, a company backed by private and public investors including the French government’s space agency CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales) and CLS (Collecte Localisation Satellites), an international space-based solutions provider, to improve global Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.

Kinéis’ constellation will connect any object anywhere in the world and guarantee the transmission of targeted and useful data to users, in near-real time, with low energy consumption with more powerful 30kg-class nanosats that integrate IoT technology. The constellation also includes a second mission: a ship-tracking Automatic Identification System (AIS). Once deployed, these technologies will allow Kinéis to expand across multiple industries and scale from 20,000 devices connected to millions. The second constellation launch will add an additional five new satellites to its planned 25 and will enhance Kinéis’ ability to connect the planet and address essential challenges for humanity, its activities, and its environment.

Archer completes 400 test flights this year

Four months ahead of schedule

Archer Aviation has confirmed it has passed the 400 test flights mark thus far this year, approximately four months ahead of schedule.

The 402 flights were conducted over the last eight months as the company ramps up flight test operations in advance of for-credit flight testing with the FAA.

Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer said, “When we first set our goal for 400 flights this year it was viewed as aggressive, but here we are in August already knocking it out. I’m proud of the Archer flight test team and the supporting groups that made it happen.”

Each flight produces critical data that Archer’s teams use to evaluate and refine aircraft loads, vibrations, performance and handling qualities.

Most recently, the Archer flight test team has focused on five key testing areas:

Transition Flights: Continuing to conduct longer-distance and higher-speed transition flights to gather data, extend endurance and ensure maximum safety.

High-Rate Operations: Increasing per-day flights to simulate the high cadence of Archer’s anticipated commercial operations and test Midnight’s durability.

Advancing Landing Profiles: Completing a series of hover landings in various wind conditions with different rates of descent and flare heights to expand Midnight’s wind envelope and further optimize its landing profile.

Enhancing Acoustic Measurement: Conducting a series of hover operations with various microphone arrays to collect supplemental data for the FAA and to further evaluate and tune Midnight’s noise signature.

Optimizing Control Laws: Regressing through the envelope with a series of optimizations made to the control laws which will extend Midnight’s endurance.

The festival starts on Friday, September 27, at 7:30 PM, with a grand opening featuring spectacular performances and a musical showcase. On the evening of Saturday, September 28, at 7 PM, families can enjoy a lively retro music party and an open-air concert. This performance will be live-streamed on the Gangnam-gu Office YouTube channel.

Tampa International Airport shows plans for new airside area.....

Tampa International Airport has released new, full-colour concept renderings of the design for Airside D, the Airport's first new airside area in almost 20 years.

The new 16-gate area will be used for both international and domestic flights and will have two levels and include 2 airline lounges.  The airport says the new Airside D area will open in 2028. The images are courtesy of the design-build team for the project led by construction company Hensel Phelps, with engineering corporation HNTB and architecture firm Gensler.

Exterior images give a sense of place for the Airside, which will be northwest of TPA's Main Terminal and will feature ample natural light and views of the bay. The new renderings show the soaring ceilings, bright interiors, the International Arrivals corridor that wraps around the building and more. The design process is currently at 15%, so these images are subject to change as the design evolves.

Airside D has a preliminary cost estimate of $1.5 billion and is scheduled to open to the public in 2028. The Airside will help TPA, which currently serves an estimated 25 million passengers annually, accommodate the region’s growth and serve up to 35 million annual passengers by 2037.

Airside D’s design features include:

Two levels plus a mezzanine for 2 airline lounges with views of the airfield and the bay

International Passenger Arrival Processing Area on the first floor

Shopping and dining locations at the center of the Airside, offering 360-degree views of the gates

Malaysia Aviation Group cuts capacity.

The Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is cutting capacity by around 20% to get back to safe and reliable operations following weeks of disruption, delays and cancellations. 

The airline cites a number of reasons for its recent scheduling troubles, including supply chain disruptions following the ramp-up of demand to pre-pandemic levels and a global shortage of spare parts for its aircraft. This led to longer turnaround times for engine overhauls and repairs for the group, which relies on external partners for those services.   

MAG also blames its difficulties, in part on delays at Boeing and Airbus to provide it with new aircraft. The group was scheduled to receive 17 new aircraft orders as part of a fleet modernisation programme by this year.  However, to date, it has only received 4 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft out of the 13 contractually agreed by 2024. For the A330neo, MAG was scheduled to receive 4 planes this year but is now expected to receive 3 committed by Airbus.

"Our focus is to prioritise customers first, ensuring we can deliver credible flight schedules and ensure the best possible customer experience moving forward. The reduced network involves 20% of our capacity, comprising Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal’s routes in Domestic Malaysia, ASEAN, North Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Greater China, South Asia and the Middle East." the carrier said last week. 

"We apologise and understand the frustration this has brought to our customers, and wish to assure that our team is working diligently to provide affected customers with compensation options available which include flight reallocations, and full refunds without any penalty charges."

Pegasus Airlines selects Lufthansa Technik for A320 family Base Maintenance Services

Multi-year agreement for more than 60 aircraft checks signed. 

Services will be performed within a dedicated overhaul line at Lufthansa Technik Sofia.

Pegasus Airlines has entrusted Lufthansa Technik with providing comprehensive Base Maintenance Services for its fast-growing Airbus A320 family fleet. The recently signed three-year agreement includes more than 60 checks on A320ceo, A320neo and A321neo aircraft of Türkiye’s second largest airline. All contracted services will be performed within a dedicated overhaul line at Lufthansa Technik Sofia.   

“The newly concluded contract and thus the long-term intensification of our cooperation with Lufthansa Technik gives us flexibility and at the same time guarantees our high quality standards,” said Şerife Akın, Senior Purchasing Director at Pegasus Airlines. “With our dedicated overhaul line at Lufthansa Technik Sofia, we are now optimally positioned for the coming years. Lufthansa Group set to head back to Tel Aviv from Thursday morning.

The Lufthansa Group has decided it is safe to restart services to Tel Aviv the build-up of drones by Iran and the ongoing volatility in the region.  

Austrian Airlines is operating a flight on Thursday morning at 01:50 from Vienna International Airport, touching down at Ben Gurion International at 06:15. Later in the morning Brussels Airlines will be departing at 9:20 and heading to Tel Aviv for an eta of 14:50. SWISS has a flight leaving at  12:00 from Zurich, getting to Tel Aviv at 17:00, whilst Lufthansa is starting flights from Frankfurt and Munich on Friday.  

The rapid deployment of U.S. fighter jets and support aircraft, along with hundreds of extra missiles in the last two weeks has no doubt contributed to the safety considerations by airline managers.  Air France recently reintroduced its flights to Tel Aviv.

Teesside Airport back in profit first the first time in a decade.....

Teesside International Airport has reported its first profit in more than a decade the company confirmed.  A growth in passenger numbers and successful Business Park developments helped the airport move out of the red and back into the black. 

Accounts for the year to March 2024 confirmed an EBITDA* of £308,555 on annual revenues of £14.5million. 

The return to profitability is well ahead of the airport’s financial plan and came after Teesside enjoyed its highest passenger numbers for more than a decade due to high demand for flights to Spain, Portugal and Turkey. 

The 2023 UK and Ireland Airport of the Year also made progress on developing its Business Park, including completing construction of the first unit on Business Park South, a new link road to the development, and a new Northside hangar, that will soon house aircraft painting company Airbourne Colours. 

The accounts show that the significant growth in property and estate development values has driven the airport’s investment portfolio by 173% over five years to almost £ 50 million. 

It is the first time the airport has reported a profit at any level since 2012.
