Hawaiian Airlines becomes the latest US airline to drop change fees

Hawaiian Airlines has become the latest U.S. airline to drop change fees....

Hawaiian Airlines passengers travelling between Hawai'i and the U.S. mainland, its international destinations or within the Hawaiian Islands can now reschedule their flights without change fees. The carrier, which has already been waiving change fees for guests who need to postpone their trip due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is extending the benefit to travellers across its entire network.

“We know our guests’ plans change for a variety of reasons, and we want them to book a flight with confidence and the flexibility to travel when they are ready to take that special Hawai‘i vacation, visit friends and relatives or do business on our neighbour islands,” said Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Peter Ingram.

Effective today, Hawaiian eliminated change fees for guests who purchase tickets or redeem HawaiianMiles for Main Cabin, Extra Comfort or First/Premium Cabin Class seats. Main Cabin Basic guests, who enjoy the lowest fares between the U.S. mainland and Hawai‘i, can modify their flight date without a change fee for tickets purchased through the end of the year under the airline’s existing COVID-19 waivers.

Hawaiian Airlines has cancelled Sunday's flights ahead of hurricane Douglas

The Honolulu based Hawaiian Airlines has cancelled all of its inter-island flights for this Sunday as the islands get ready to face Hurricane Douglas the carrier has confirmed.

A number of other services for this evening have also been cancelled because of the expected weather.  Passengers are being advised that will be able to rebook cancelled flights using one of the following travel waivers:

 No change fees or fare difference:

Reschedule your reservation by Aug. 4, 2020 for new travel that commences no later than Oct. 31, 2020.

No change fees, but a fare difference may apply:

Cancel now and make changes to your reservation after Aug. 4, 2020. You’ll keep the unused value of the ticket until the ticket expires* and upon rebooking, no change fees will be charged, but a fare difference may apply.

Passengers should also be aware of the current restrictions about travelling to and from the islands:

Inter-island travellers:

Complete the required Travel and Health form prior to TSA screening.

We encourage you to submit the form online prior to arriving at the airport. If you’re unable to complete it in advance, paper forms will also be available at the airport.

Mainland and International travellers:

The mandatory 14-day self-isolation quarantine has been extended through August for all travellers arriving into the state. Those travelling into the state will need to use the Safe Travels web-based app to complete the required travel information prior to departure.

The state's pre-travel testing program has been delayed to now launch on Sept. 1, 2020. This will allow travellers arriving from the U.S. Mainland to be exempt from the 14-day quarantine by taking a valid COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to their flight and providing proof of a negative test result upon arrival. The mandatory quarantine will remain in place for those who choose to not take a pre-travel test.

Hawaiian Airlines to suspend most long-haul passenger service

Hawaiian Airlines, in preparation for a 14-day government quarantine order for all Hawai‘i arrivals set to begin Thursday due to the COVID-19 pandemic, today announced it will maintain its regular flight schedule through Wednesday to allow guests to return home and to accommodate the repatriation of aircraft before finalizing significant reductions of its domestic and international passenger network.

“Hawai‘i is our home and all 7,500 of us at our company care deeply for it,” Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Peter Ingram said after Hawai‘i Gov. David Ige announced the quarantine plan yesterday afternoon. “We support the state of Hawai‘i’s efforts to quickly contain this illness. We sincerely appreciate our guests’ patience and understanding during this difficult period for Hawaiian and the state of Hawai’i.”

Hawaiian Airlines Marks 16 Consecutive Years as Most Punctual U.S. Airline

Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaiʻi's hometown carrier for more than 90 years, remained the nation's most punctual carrier in 2019, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation, marking the 16th straight year its guests have enjoyed the best on-time performance in the U.S. industry.

Hawaiian's flights averaged an 87.7 percent on-time rate in 2019, exceeding the U.S. industry average by 6.1 percentage points.

"Our more than 7,400 employees know how important it is for our guests to be on time, whether they are starting a family vacation in Hawaiʻi, or travelling between our islands for business or to visit their ʻohana, and I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishment," said Peter Ingram, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines and HawaiianMiles members donated 35 million miles to 13 local nonprofits in 2019 via the carrier’s member giving program. Each organization received an average of 2.8 million miles to support services aligned with Hawaiian’s corporate pillars of culture, education, environment and health and human services in Hawai‘i. The 35 million gifted miles constitute the largest annual donation since the program’s inception in 2005.

Hawaiian Airlines starts new Fukuoka service

Hawaiian Airlines welcomed guests aboard its inaugural flights between Fukuoka Airport (FUK) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) with festive gate-side celebrations in both cities as the carrier marked the start of its four-times-weekly nonstop service with Airbus A330 aircraft.

Hawai‘i’s flagship carrier delighted guests with performances by the Hawaiian Airlines Serenaders music and hula troupe, as well as fresh lei and special keepsakes including a canvas tote and luggage tag commemorating the airline’s inaugural flight.

Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Peter Ingram addressed guests in Honolulu to mark the return of service to its sister city. Ross Higashi, deputy director of the State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation – Airports and Koichi Ito, Consul General of Japan also offered congratulatory remarks before the inaugural flight, HA827, departed HNL on Nov. 26 at 11:20 a.m., arriving into FUK at 5:21 p.m. the following day.

New Maui-Las Vegas service for Hawaiian Airlines this December

Hawaiian Airlines has confirmed it will start a new direct service between Maui and the ever-popular  Nevada gambling hot-spot Las Vegas on 15th December this year.  The carrier inaugurates its newest narrow-body Airbus A321neo aircraft on the route which will operate four times a week flying between Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG) and Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport (LAS).

Hawaiian is also increasing Honolulu-Seattle 

 starting in January

The airline also announced the start of sales for two other new A321neo routes -- thrice-weekly nonstop service between Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) starting Jan. 7; and seasonal winter service between OGG and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Dec. 14 through Jan. 5. The new flights complement existing daily nonstop service offered on each route with wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft.

Hawaiian Airlines awarded new Tokyo Haneda-Honolulu route

Hawaiian Airlines confirmed this week plans to increase service between Tokyo and Honolulu in the summer of 2020, after receiving final U.S. Department of Transportation approval to operate one additional daily nonstop flight between Haneda Airport (HND) and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).

Hawaiian Airlines Reports May 2019 Traffic Statistics

Hawaiian Airlines, Inc., a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: HA) ("Hawaiian"), today announced its system-wide traffic statistics for the month ended May 31, 2019. 

Hawaiian welcomed more than one million guests in May. Total traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 5.8 percent on an increase of 4.1 percent in capacity (available seat miles) compared to May 2018. Load factor increased 1.4 points year-over-year to 87.3 percent.

Hawaiian Airlines starts Boston service - the longest interstate route

US aviation history was made earlier this week, when Hawaiian Airlines operated flight 90 for the first time between  Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), becoming the US' longest interstate route!

Now its the turn of New England to say Aloha to a direct link to the Hawaiian islands five times each week.  aloha to New England.

As the world’s best premium leisure-destination airline, Hawaiian’s newest nonstop route opens a rainbow of possibilities to the Northeast region thawing out from another winter. Hawaiian Airlines today announced its system-wide traffic statistics for the month ended February 28th, 2019.

Hawaiian welcomed more than 870,000 guests in February 2019. Total traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased by 2.3% on an increase of 2.8 % in capacity (available seat miles).  Load factor in February was 84.5%.

Hawaiian Airlines today reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2018, which shows the carrier performed well in the face of higher fuel costs, delays in aircraft delivery, bad weather and increased competition.

"Hawaiian delivered another year of strong financial results in 2018, with an adjusted pre-tax margin in the top tier of industry performance," said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines president and CEO.  "Undaunted by higher fuel prices, elevated competitive capacity, aircraft delivery delays and severe weather events, our employees once again demonstrated why Hawaiian is the carrier of choice to Hawai'i.  2019 will be an important year for Hawaiian.  Successfully dealing with all of 2018's twists and turns gives me tremendous confidence in our ability to sustain and build upon our achievements in the years ahead."

Hawaiian Airlines Carries Record 11.8 Million Passengers in 2018

Hawaiian Airlines, has today announced its system-wide traffic statistics for the month, quarter, and full year ended December 31, 2018. 

The airline welcomed a record 11,840,178 guests in 2018, a 2.9% increase over the previous year.  The record number of passengers in 2018 marks 14 straight years of growth as Hawaiian continues to expand its network and fleet, providing travellers options to fly to, from, and within the Hawaiian Islands than any other carrier.

Hawaiian took delivery of nine A321neo aircraft in 2018, bringing the total size of its A321neo fleet to 11 aircraft.  The A321neo will help the airline build upon its already strong U.S. West Coast presence, including new daily non-stop service to Maui's Kahului Airport from Portland, Sacramento and San Diego international airports, as well as to Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport from Long Beach.  The airline will also begin new five-times-a-week non-stop service to Honolulu from Boston's Logan International Airport on April 4th.     

The End of an Era: Aloha Boeing 767

Hawaiian Airlines said goodbye to the last of  Boeing 767-300ER in its fleet yesterday. The widebody twin-engine jet joined the carriers fleet in 2001, replacing the trijet DC-10s and heralded a new era in aviation for the carrier. 

After flying the Pacific skies for over a decade, the aircraft tail number N594 – named ‘Ulili after the Wandering Tattler bird – completed its final scheduled commercial flight this afternoon when it arrived at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) at 13:30 HST. The airline's agents welcomed the 258 guests and 10 crew members with celebratory lei as they deplaned from the historic HA19.

Hawaiian Airlines predicts lower passenger numbers and revenues

Hawaiian Airlines, announced its system-wide traffic statistics for the month ended November 30th, 2018 earlier this week which showed the sunny carrier took more than 937,000  passengers for a ride in November 2018, slightly down on last year, with load factor also down slightly to 84.1%. The airline also lowered its expectations for certain fourth quarter results.

Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue announced earlier this week an expanded codeshare agreement that allows travellers from dozens of cities, most of them in the eastern U.S., to easily connect to the Hawaiian Islands via Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) starting in April.  

Boston-area JetBlue customers can now purchase tickets on Hawaiian Airlines' nonstop flight to Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) with JetBlue's 'B6' code and earn TrueBlue points when they fly.

Additionally, travelers originating in 26 cities – including Washington, DC (DCA), Pittsburgh (PIT), Philadelphia (PHL), Baltimore (BWI) and Cleveland (CLE), which currently cannot connect to Hawai'i through JetBlue in New York  – can already purchase codeshare tickets that carry Hawaiian's 'HA' code on their JetBlue flights that connect in Boston, and JetBlue's 'B6' code on Hawaiian's new nonstop flight between Logan and Honolulu. And they can use the 'B6' code on convenient Hawaiian flights that connect Honolulu to the entire island chain.  Hawaiian and JetBlue's guests also will continue to enjoy one-stop check-in and baggage transfers to their final destination, as well as the opportunity to earn and redeem loyalty rewards.

Hawaiian sees revenues rise during October.

Hawaiian Airlines carried over 971,000 passengers during last month, a record for the carrier it reported this week.  The airline also increased flights which had a slightly negative impact on its load factors across the fleet, down to 85.6%

The airline recently announced it would be starting a direct service from Honolulu to Boston from 4th April.  The service will operate five days a week on a 278-seat Airbus A330 widebody aircraft, which features a spacious first-class cabin that has 18 lie-flat leather seats that transform into 180-degree beds at a roomy 20.5 inches wide and 76 inches long, in a 2-2-2 configuration. The aircraft also has  68 Extra Comfort main cabin seats, which offer a 36-inch seat pitch for extra leg room, and priority boarding.

Hawaiian Airlines third quarter results released

                          Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2018 yesterday and despite some challenging conditions over the last few months the airline reported some positive results.
