The global flight simulator market size is expected to reach USD 6.4 billion by 2027, expanding at a revenue-based CAGR of 4.2%, according to a study conducted by Grand View Research, Inc. Increasing adoption of Full Flight Simulator (FFS) owing to high fidelity and reliability is expected to provide adequate growth prospects over the coming years. Customers also opt for fixed Flight Training Devices (FTDs) on account of their low operational costs, modular approach, real-time aerodynamic aviation model, and remote configuration and management. The industry is expected to witness moderate growth over the forecast period owing to the aforementioned factors.

Air Canada to put 5,200 staff on "Off Duty Status" and furlough about 1,300 managers.


Air Canada has confirmed that due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis the airline will further reduce its capacity for the Second Quarter of 2020 by 85%-90% and will place 15,200 members of its unionized workforce on Off Duty Status and furlough about 1,300 managers. The airline says these staff reductions are intended to be temporary and would start from this Friday, 3rd April. 

Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive said: "The unpredictable extent and duration of the Covid-19 pandemic requires a significant overall response.  To furlough such a large proportion of our employees is an extremely painful decision but one we are required to take given our dramatically smaller operations for the next while.  It will help ensure that Air Canada can manage through this crisis that is affecting airlines everywhere. We believe that the temporary nature of these reductions, many achieved through voluntary programs, combined with other mitigation measures, will position us to restore regular operations as soon as the situation improves," 

"I understand and regret the impact this will have upon our employees and their families. I thank all of our employees, as well as union leaders, for working with us constructively to quickly implement these measures".

TUI UK completes its mammoth repatriation programme and furloughs 11,000 UK based staff

The arrival of 265 TUI UK passengers at Birmingham Airport from Cancun on Sunday marked the end of a mammoth repatriation programme mounted by the travel company in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic. The long haul flight was the final part of a finely orchestrated operation bringing the last of 45,000 TUI UK holidaymakers home.

The complex process was planned as government and local authority advice changed and countries closed their borders. And as well as returning TUI customers, hundreds more holidaymakers, unable to get home with the airlines they had travelled with, were repatriated by TUI from destinations including Goa, Jamaica, Turkey, Spain and Marrakech.

The flights could not have been operated without the efforts of 964 TUI cabin crew and 362 flight crew team members, who put in over 11,000 flying hours to get customers home. The repatriation effort was supported on the ground by over 2,500 TUI destination reps overseas who were on hand to help customers as they waited in their hotels and resorts before.

In the last ten days 192 TUI airways flights have taken off from 30 overseas airports in destinations across the world from Spain, Turkey and Greece to Mexico, Costa Rica and Thailand, bringing customers and 320 overseas destination reps back to 16 UK airports.

National Airlines Delivers Critical COVID-19 Relief

National Airlines Boeing 747-400 Freighters are carrying out highly critical COVID-19 missions world-wide to quickly deliver urgently needed COVID-19 laboratory testing supplies and protective gear.

USA Air Carrier National Airlines operates a fleet of B747-400 Freighters, A330 and B757 passenger aircraft globally.

With the World struggling to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus, governments across the World are in dire need of masks, gloves, and other relief materials. National has been steadfast in supporting the World in these difficult times by ensuring the supply chain process is maintained, while also moving crucial passenger missions.

Among the many relief missions National Airlines has been involved with, the most recent is a flight operated into Mumbai, India with one of its Boeing 747-400 Freighters carrying key COVID-29 laboratory testing supplies to identity COVID-19. The second-largest country in terms of population has just implemented a complete lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

National has completed several missions and are contracted to perform numerous more from India, Europe, and China into the USA carrying pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies. Chris Alf, Chairman of National, said, "We salute our members, especially the crew who are doing an extraordinary job and accepting the responsibility to fly to world-wide destinations carrying medical supplies and relief materials and braving the challenges we're all facing today. Dubai promises state support, new funding for Emirates airline

                                              The Government of Dubai is committed to fully supporting the national carrier Emirates at this critical time and will inject equity into the company, the crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al-Maktoum confirmed on Tuesday.

"The Government of Dubai is committed to fully supporting Emirates at this critical time and will inject equity into the company,” he wrote on Twitter. "Emirates, our national carrier, positioned Dubai as a global travel hub and has great strategic value as one of the main pillars of Dubai’s economy, as well as the wider economy of the UAE (United Arab Emirates),” he added.

Emirates, like many airlines around the world, has suspended all normal passenger operations due to the downturn in business and the government introduced travel bans, lockdowns and airspace closures as the coronavirus COVID-19 crisis continues.  

Emirates is a state-owned company, started in 1985 with just two aircraft and now employes more than 63,500 employees from over 170 countries and operates to 159 destinations with a fleet of some 270 aircraft - including the world largest fleets of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.

The government in Dubai will announce further details regarding how and when the injection of equity would take place and any further measures required.

American has extended its offer to waive change fees for customers who purchase travel through April 30. Customers will have even more flexibility since any ticket purchased by April 30 will not incur change fees prior to travel. The offer is available for any of American’s published non-refundable fares. Additional updates on existing travel alerts can be found on aa.com/travelalerts.

Delta's cleaning process

German Federal Government approves KfW bridge loan of €1.8 billion for travel firm TUI


Major European travel firm TUI AG has received the approval of the German government for a bridging loan of 1.8 billion euros from the KfW. The funds of Germany’s state-owned development bank are to be used to increase TUI's existing credit line with its banks amounting to 1.75 billion euros (“Revolving Credit Facility”). The KfW bridge loan is subject to the approval of the banks. Talks on this have already started and will be continued after today's decision. One of the conditions of the KfW bridge loan is that TUI waives dividend payments for the duration of the bridge loan. This would give TUI access to financial resources and credit lines totaling 3.1 billion euros at the present time.

Air Astana operating two more repatriation flights.

Most of Air Astana and FlyArystan’s scheduled flights are now being suspended until 15th April 2020 following the lockdown of Almaty and Nur-Sultan as a result of progressive government restrictions intended to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. International flights will now only be carried out for the purpose of repatriating the citizens of Kazakhstan and providing foreign citizens with the opportunity to leave the country.

Air Astana will operate the following International Repatriation Flight Schedule for Kazakh citizens wishing to be repatriated to Kazakhstan.  01 April KC937  Uralsk to Frankfurt and KC 938 back. 02 April KC 903 Atyrau - Amsterdam and KC 904 returning. 

All domestic services have been suspended until April 14th, with that date under review. 




Reduced domestic services for Scat

SCAT Airlines has reduced its domestic route schedule due to the introduction of restrictions on entry/exit to / from the cities of Nursultan and Almaty.
The current schedule of domestic flights runs until 15 April 2020, although it is expected that the reduced timetable will continue for some time.

UK Government strikes partnership with airlines to fly back more tourists stranded abroad

has announced a new government partnership with 

airlines to fly back more tourists stranded abroad

due to the coronavirus pandemic.

More tourists stranded abroad because of coronavirus will be able to get back to the UK following an arrangement struck between the government and the airline industry.

The global travel situation caused by coronavirus has led to many people becoming stranded overseas. This is an unprecedented challenge with many countries closing borders and imposing travel restrictions with little warning. This has left many UK travellers struggling to get home.

Virgin, Easyjet, Jet2 and Titan Airways have today signed a memorandum of understanding negotiated by the Foreign Secretary and Transport Secretary. British Airways have also made clear that they will work with us in the national interest to get people home, and other airlines are expected to join. The Secretaries of State have published a joint letter to the airlines - see below.

Spirit Airlines, the US ultra-low-cost carrier has announced this week that its Board of Directors has approved the adoption of a limited duration stockholder rights agreement (the “Rights Agreement”) and declared a dividend distribution of one right (“Right”) for each outstanding share of common stock outstanding as of the record date. The record date for such dividend distribution is April 9, 2020. The Rights Agreement expires, without any further action being required to be taken by the Spirit Board of Directors, on March 29, 2021.

Vietnam Airlines reducing domestic Vietnam flights and introducing new passenger transport policy due to Covid-19

To help combat the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 Vietnam Airlines has confirmed it will reduce the number of domestic flights it operates between 30th March and 15th April 2020. 

Specifically, all domestic routes will be temporarily suspended during the above period, except for routes from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and from Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang / Phu Quoc. These routes will be maintained with a maximum frequency of 01 round trip per day.
