HRH The Prince of Wales has toured British Airways’ engineering base in Cardiff, seeing first-hand the changes, large and small, which the airline is making as it works towards more sustainable flying.

In front of more than 400 BA staff, His Royal Highness was shown the nose-to-tail focus on sustainability from the heavy-weight investments in new fuel-efficient aircraft, to the smallest detail of using a light-weight solder in aircraft repairs, bringing down the carbon footprint of each journey.

Airbus and Thales join forces to develop the Air Combat Cloud for Future Combat Air System

As part of last week’s awarding of the Phase 1A Demonstrators contract for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), Airbus and Thales have signed an agreement for the development of the Air Combat Cloud which will enable the FCAS system of systems.

Under this agreement, Airbus and Thales will work jointly on the structural design of the Air Combat Cloud to support collaborative air operations at national and multinational levels and will perform a first phase of technology demonstrations of air combat cloud capabilities. This agreement supports the Air Combat Cloud pillar of the Demonstrator Phase 1A covering the next 18 month period and will serve as a starting point for demonstrators and technology development.

Swiss International Air Lines takes delivery of its first A320neo

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has taken delivery of its first A320neo aircraft at a delivery ceremony in Hamburg, Germany. It is the first of 25 A320neo Family aircraft ordered by Swiss International Air Lines.

The A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new-generation engines, Sharklets and cabin efficiency enablers, which together deliver 20% fuel savings. With more than 7,300 orders received from over 110 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured some 60% share of the market.

British Airways is adding more flights to some of its most popular

London- 20 February 2020: British Airways is adding more flights to some of its most popular destinations in the US and South Africa from April*.

The airline will be increasing its services from Heathrow to Miami, Seattle and Cape Town, offering those customers who want to travel during the busy spring period more flexibility.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Network and Alliances, said; “We know that these destinations in the US and Africa are highly sought after, particularly during Spring, so we are pleased to be able to offer more flights to these destinations for our customers who are looking to get away.”

The Embraer Phenom 300 is the World’s Most Delivered Light Jet for Eight Consecutive Years

Embraer Executive Jets delivered 51 Phenom 300 and Phenom 300E light jets in 2019, making it the most delivered light jet of the year. This is the eighth consecutive year that the Phenom 300 achieves this mark, having accrued more than 530 deliveries since entering the market in December 2009. The information was released today by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA).

AerCap Signs Lease Agreement with Belavia Airlines for 3 Embraer E195-E2 Aircraft

AerCap Holdings announced it has signed an agreement with Belavia - Belarusian Airlines for the lease of three new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The aircraft are from AerCap's order book with Embraer. The first aircraft is scheduled to deliver in December 2020, with the remaining two aircraft delivering in March and April 2021.

AerCap was the launch lessor customer of Embraer's E-Jets E2 and has a total of 50 Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s owned and on order.   

"We are very pleased to announce the placement of three E2s with Belavia. We have a long history of working with our friends at Belavia, and we are excited to be a part of their fleet renewal plan," said Philip Scruggs, President and Chief Commercial Officer of AerCap. "With the introduction of Embraer's most advanced aircraft, Belavia will enjoy improved operating costs and versatility. Making Travel Easier - United Airlines and Vistara Launch Codeshare Agreement

United Airlines and Vistara announced the start of a new codeshare agreement allowing United customers to book travel on 68 Vistara-operated flights to 26 destinations throughout India for travel beginning February 28. The codeshare builds on the agreement between the airlines in which MileagePlus and Vistara's loyalty program members earn and redeem miles when flying on either of the airline's route network. 


The United and Vistara agreement offers customers a simplified experience when planning travel between dozens of destinations throughout India including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Goa, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi and more.

New route to Vancouver with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul

Turkish Airlines has confirmed it will launch a new direct service from its home base of Istanbul to the vibrant and exciting Canadian city of Vancouver. 

The airline will operate three times a week using a Boeing 787-9 with a seat configuration of 30 Business class and 270 Economy class seats.

NCD Channel Sales Now Represent 20% of Iberia’s Sales in the Spanish Market

Iberia is making great strides in implementing IATA’s new standardised NDC data transmission system for its sales, and 20% of those in the Spanish market are already made via this channel, meeting IATA’s recommended target for the end of the year.

A total of some 3,600 travel agencies are now using the Iberia NDC channel, first introduced in 2017.
