US Osprey causes helipad destruction

Opps.....the helipad at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge has been rather damaged after a training exercise involving a US Osprey left lifted the whole thing up and sent debris flying.

Now, air ambulances have been instructed to divert to the nearby Cambridge City airport after the incident on Wednesday. Patients will be transferred by road ambulance from the airport to the hospital with a critical care paramedic on board. Dr Victor Inyang, Medical Director of East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: “Addenbrooke’s is the major trauma centre for the region, therefore quick and efficient transfer of critically ill or injured patients to the hospital is vital.”

No word yet on who will pay for the damaged pad to be repaired.
