airBaltic restarts flights between Amsterdam and Riga

The Latvian airline airBaltic resumed daily flights between Riga and Amsterdam today on Airbus A220 jet aircraft.  The service had been put on hold earlier in the year due to travel restrictions as a direct result of the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

airBaltic flights to Amsterdam depart every morning and on some days also a second evening flight is available. The carrier also operates direct flights to Amsterdam from Vilnius three times per week and from Tallinn twice per week.

airBaltic is restarting the service despite the high level of infections,  there were 4,680 new cases reported on Monday, according to official data from the National Institute for Health (RIVM)

Easy going, open minded and flowering with beautiful architecture, Amsterdam is both the largest city and capital of the Netherlands with a population of about one million. Located in the North Holland province at the country’s west, the city sits on the Amstel River (from which it takes its name) and the Ij Bay. The North Sea Channel provides it with access to the North Sea and to the Baltic, responsible in part for the Dutch Golden Age during which Amsterdam was once the world’s wealthiest city.
