Airport coronavirus tests "give false sense of security" says UK Prime Minister

Virgin Atlantic and the boss of London Heathrow Airport are among a growing number of people and organizations that are calling on the UK's Government to introduce coronavirus COVID-19 tests on arrival to avoid the possible 14-day quarantine period some travellers have to complete at the moment.

However, Boris Johnson, the UK's Prime Minister, has rejected arrival airport testing, "93% of the time you could have a real false sense of security, a false sense of confidence when you arrive and take a test" he said on a visit to Solihull. Johnson also claimed arrival testing would only identify 7% of virus cases and insisted,"The quarantine system that we have has got to be an important part of our repertoire, of our toolbox, in fighting COVID."
