What Will You Be Doing?

The Director of Pricing oversees the staff, activities and resources of the Pricing team and reports to the VP, Network and Revenue.  This role currently manages two direct reports:  Sr. Manager, Technical Pricing and Sr. Manager, Strategic Pricing.   In a nutshell, the leader in this position manages the business process of Pricing to attain company revenue objectives and commercial strategies and maintain competitive advantages.

Essential Functions:

Manages the business process of Pricing to attain company revenue objectives and commercial strategies, and maintain competitive advantages, including:

Tracking and reporting to senior management on all aspects of competitive pricing
Developing pricing strategies, tariff structures and responses to competitor actions
Evolving pricing strategy in response to competitive environment, and align team activities to strategic goals
Partnering with Yield Management for optimal revenue production
Provides strategic direction/objectives to and coordinates efforts of teams in the performance of assigned projects.
Establishes and tracks performance of market-level pricing strategies, with the goal of identifying and exploiting revenue opportunities in a highly competitive environment.
Provides direction and strategy for block seat agreements and group travel revenue.
Works across departmental lines to produce timely actions to support company strategies.
Develops and oversees production of senior management pricing reports.
Oversees Sabre Air Price and/or other alternative pricing tools.
Manages evaluation of team members, including skill sets, skill development and regular reviews in line with department policies
Other Functions:

Assists in the teaching/training of analysts to maximize pricing team efficiency
Leadership and team building
Monitors and manages analysts as it relates to maximizing revenues
Maintains good communication within the department as well as other departments
Manages and develops direct reporting employees

Manager, Pricing and Manager, Specialty Revenue
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Aviation Management or related field or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in pricing and revenue management preferred
3 years of previous experience with day-to-day usage of a competitive pricing tool (AirPrice or similar)
3+ years of prior supervisory or demonstrated experience in leadership
Experience with the theory and practice of pricing strategy in the U.S. competitive environment
Excellent MS Excel, MS Access skills, general SQL knowledge
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Thorough understanding of the overall structure and operation of a high performance, competitive pricing department
Demonstrates outstanding analytical and intuitive revenue management skills
Able to efficiently summarize competitive pricing actions, and quickly develop counter-strategies
Highly motivated
Strong leadership skills
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Proven track record of team work
