Austrian Airlines resumed flight operations on Monday, June 15 after a break of around 90 days. The first flight week brings an average load factor of 50 percent. Nevertheless, it is still noticeable that many passengers are insecure when booking their trip and are asking for options of a quick and uncomplicated journey home.
Return flight guarantee for all regular flights within Europe
In addition to flexible ticket rebooking options, Austrian Airlines, as well as Lufthansa and SWISS, now also offers a return flight guarantee for all regular flights within Europe. This applies to all customers regardless of the fare booked and is included in the fare. Austrian Airlines will bring passengers back to Austria if there are any Corona caused disruptions at their destination – if necessary, also by special flight.
The Classic and Flex fares as well as the Business Saver fare will be extended by an "All-round carefree package" in cooperation with AXA Partners, which covers everything from free return transport in the event of quarantine to additional hotel costs. Flex fares also come with a "Bring me home now" guarantee, which is intended to enable passengers to return within 48 hours.
All return travel offers at a glance
The extensions to the above-mentioned fares will be offered through the direct distribution channels of Austrian and the Lufthansa Group from June 25 until the end of August. All regular flights with a return flight date up to the end of January 2021 are covered, whereby the fares are not increased in price, but are extended to include the above-mentioned services free of charge for the customer.
"In the exchange with our customers, we notice that flight bookings are being made at short notice at the moment, as many guests feel that long-term bookings are too uncertain. With the return journey options, we want to offer the necessary security for this", comments Austrian Airlines CCO Andreas Otto on the return journey guarantee.
