Frontier Airlines to capitalize on passengers fears with a guaranteed middle seat free fee

Frontier Airlines is all set to make a quick buck on the back of passengers worries and fears over contracting the coronavirus onboard its flights.

The US budget carrier will introduce a ‘More Room’ seat assignment, which will allow customers to book a seat which has the one next to it unoccupied for a fee starting at $39 per flight.

The option is said to complement the airline’s mandatory face-covering requirement for all passengers and flight crews and is available on Frontier’s website, FlyFrontier.com or at check-in, subject to availability.

It is quite possible that Frontier will double the fees it rakes in from this initiative,  as it entirely likely that whilst the passenger in the window seat will pay the fee to guarantee the seat next to them is unoccupied, the passenger in the aisle seat at the end of that row will also be paying the same fee, for the same middle seat to be kept free, thereby doubled the funds Frontier scams from worried passengers.

“While we believe the best measure to keep everyone healthy is to require face coverings, for those who want an empty seat next to them for extra peace of mind or simply additional comfort, we are now offering ‘More Room,’” said Frontier CEO Barry Biffle.

Flights departing May 8 through August 31, 2020, will have 18 More Room seats available for passengers to select and the carrier will announce at a later date whether the More Room programme will be extended beyond August 31.
