Almost 78,000 travellers from five continents, 34 countries and 48 destinations are back home thanks to Condor

On Friday evening, Condor's last rescue flight from Bangkok (Thailand) via Dacca in Bangladesh landed at Frankfurt Airport on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office. Since 16 March 2020, the leisure airline has brought back to Germany almost 78,000 travellers, three dogs and three cats aboard 400 flights from five continents, 34 countries and 48 destinations. Well over 2,000 crew members were on duty, more than 20 technicians accompanied the flights and the planning staff for the special flights met in a total of 59 telephone conferences. Condor is now focusing on cargo and special flights for harvest workers to ensure the provision of medical and basic goods supplies in Germany.

"After we were able to bring back almost 78,000 travellers to Germany in recent weeks as part of the German Foreign Office airlift and in cooperation with tour operators and cruise lines, we are now using our long-haul aircraft to transport urgently needed medical protection equipment for the Germany from China," said Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor. "In times of Corona, Condor supports the whole of society: Through flights with vital cargo as well as the harvest helper flights, which provide immense support for the harvests of German farmers, Condor is making a significant contribution to securing both medical and basic food supplies".

Flights with essential cargo for basic medical care

Condor operates at least one cargo flight a day from China, and brought 4.25 million face masks to Germany in the last few weeks alone. For this purpose, Condor set up a hub in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at short notice to bring the cargo to Germany as quickly and smoothly as possible. A large number of additional flights are being planned.

Farmer seeks flight: harvest workers fly from five airports in Romania

Condor is helping German farmers with its own initiative "Bauer sucht Flug" (farmer seeks flight) to bring helpers to all parts of Germany for the upcoming harvests. The process is very simple, without detours via brokers or complicated inquiry forms: farmers book their helpers directly on the Condor website at www.condor.com/bauersuchtflug and receive in the harvest helper package with not only 30 kilograms of free luggage, a snack on board and the obligatory health check. By flying with Condor, they also ensure that the applicable distancing rules for their helpers are followed to protect their own farms, because the middle seat of each row remains empty on all Condor harvest helper flights.

After registration, the flights will be operated from the Romanian cities Bucharest, Iași, Cluj, Sibiu and Timișoara to Hamburg, Hanover, Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe/Baden Baden, Frankfurt-Hahn and Nuremberg. Condor thus covers every region in Germany.
