Delta is contributing $250,000 to the Red Cross Society of China for immediate health and safety services related to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Red Cross Society of China is working around the clock to assist in the containment of coronavirus by providing medical aid and education to communities. Delta’s contribution will support these efforts and the Red Cross Society of China’s ability to scale up resources as the outbreak evolves.
“Supporting the Red Cross Society of China allows Delta and our employees to help those who are affected by coronavirus in China,” said Wong Hong, Vice President – Greater China. “As a global airline, we are committed to investing in local communities where Delta people and customers live, work and serve, lending a helping hand when it’s needed the most, and partnering with organizations who are hands-on with disaster relief around the world.”
In response to the coronavirus, Delta recently decided to temporarily suspend all U.S. to China flying beginning Feb. 2 through April 30. The donation Delta is giving is the equivalent of 10 minutes of work for the firm's top executives.
In times of humanitarian crisis, Delta’s lead partner for relief and aid is the Red Cross. In addition to the American Red Cross, Delta also supports Red Cross agencies in Brazil, France, Mexico, the Netherlands and the U.K.
