Cargo up for airBaltic

airBaltic Cargo, a part of the Latvian airline airBaltic, in 2019 has carried a record amount of cargo and mail – 14.8 thousand tonnes or 21% more than the year before.

Iļja Seļiverstovs, Head of airBaltic Cargo: “Last year we saw the fastest growth of the company over the last decade even though the overall air cargo volumes in Europe decreased. Our growth can be attributed not only to the larger capacities we offer with the introduction of more Airbus A220-300 aircraft to our fleet, but also to enhanced cooperation with partner airlines and postal operators worldwide. Both cargo and mail showed similar growth rates.”

Overall, the most popular destinations for mail and cargo transportation in 2019 have been Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Moscow, London, Amsterdam, Kyiv and Minsk.

In 2019, airBaltic also achieved the highest number of passengers carried in airline’s history carried. Last year 5 049 317 passengers or 22% more than the year before travelled with airBaltic. In addition, in 2019 airBaltic launched nine new routes, and, by adding more Airbus A220-300 to its fleet, increased the comfort and reliability of their flights.
